BATON ROUGE — Lawmakers have killed a bill that would have legalized recreational marijuana in the state. The House Criminal Justice Committee, in a 9-4 vote along party lines, deferred the bill, thereby stopping it from moving forward during the legislative session. Currently, 22 states have passed laws legalizing recreational marijuana, with Delaware being the latest state to do so. Democratic New Orleans Rep. Candace Newell argued that her bill would create a booming economy for the state. However, police, sheriffs and district attorneys across the state strongly opposed the bill.

Any word on their pending re-criminalization of gas station CBD?
It's not like La. has a shortage of criminals running around already so we need to make "moar laws!"

I’m glad we’re finally listening to the experts on how bad drugs are

Yes. Legalizing weed would really be a plus for Louisiana. Stoned employees are the best

I don’t smoke but I like to drink. In my opinion drinking causes way more issues than smoking does. Why not make the tax money to help out our crumbling state? No surprise though.

You mean the people who make money off of criminalization didn't want to lose their revenue stream?
Shocker.

I think most are stoned already, legal or not.

The powers that be in the state must not have completely worked out how they can siphon all of the money from recreational sales to themselves.

The Popeye's employees would be just as slow, but maybe a little nicer.
Who am I kidding, there's probably a blunt rotation every half hour at the back door.

Legalize it and tax the shite out of it....use it to pay teachers, secure schools, and make parents accountable for their shitheads.
