Bermuda invading my Centipede. Weedwarriors assemble!

Is there a product that I can apply that’s less than a nuclear option?

It’s within a 10’ x 3’ section that has recently had excessive traffic for a remodel project. My preference is to not nuke and sod but I’ll hang up and listen.

Yes - sethoxydim. Active ingredient in Fertilome Over the Top 11, Hi Yield Grass Killer, Vantage, … some other brand names. Expect temporary yellowing on the surrounding centipede but it will recover.
Also read the label before buying/using - if it calls for a mineral oil concentrate (not the same as surfactant) to be mixed with it, buy it to, and mix according to the sethoxydim label directions.

Bermuda is the better grass but you can spray sethoxydim.

I think sethoxydim can be used in centipede to kill bermuda. I've never done it and I'm not sure on application rates. So hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself will chime in.

True and false. By definition everything can be a weed because a weed is any unwanted plant or grass competing for space with a cultivated grass or plant.
For me St Aug or centipede would be a weed.
However, Bermuda is in fact a turf grass.

True, but, there’s always a but, for me it’s a weed in my Centipede. My front yard was a pretty solid showing Centipede example until this construction. Now I’m battling to return it to last years results.

Unfortunately not, no herbicide can take out bermudagrass in St Aug without doing equal damage to the St Augustine.
About only thing I know is to make sure you set your mower to the proper height, 3-4 inches, for St Augustine and hope over time the St Aug crowds/shades out the Bermuda. It does work but it’s a slow process - I deal with that issue in my backyard but the St. Aug is overtaking the Bermuda when I began raising the height of the mower, and I’m in year 3, maybe 4.

Vantage was the GOAT of killing bermuda in centipede back in the day.

Bermuda grows leads under ground and can easily go under fences, sidewalks, etc. If your neighbor has Bermuda, you will have Bermuda too eventually. This is a losing battle.
My backyard has mostly Bermuda. I'm actually putting down a lot of seed lately to thicken it up in spots. The St. Augustine is slowly taking over though. But the bare spots where we had some traffic after moving in is a long way from the nearest St. Augustine lead.

That’s a question I’m not sure someone has asked before but there are several lawn herbicide labeled for use on residential lawns that are safe to use on Bermudagrass that will kill centipede or St Augustine - quinchlorac comes to mind.
But I’d let ronk recommend something for you as his is an expert on matters associated with Bermudagrass lawns and follow his recommendation. If he doesn’t see your post to respond just create a new thread asking the same question.

Well, I'm just trying to assist in that process is all so that it can happen faster. I hate centipede with a passion.
