Donald Trump claimed Thursday that he’s implored Fox News host and longtime ally Sean Hannity to knock it off with the jokes about President Joe Biden’s age.

Hannity then pointed out that Trump, 76, has bit his tongue—relatively speaking–when asked to comment on what he considers to be Biden’s mental and physical fitness challenges.

While Hannity said he himself will not hesitate to criticize Biden’s acuity, he asked, “Why are you reluctant to call that out?”

“Well, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this,” Trump replied. “I actually called Sean and I asked Sean not to joke about it. Because he used to joke about it. And I said, ‘Honestly, I don’t think it looks good for you or for anybody for you to joke about it, because it’s a serious problem.’”

In the months after Biden’s inauguration, the Fox News host routinely parroted Trump’s nickname for Biden—“Sleepy Joe”—and even showed off a “sippy cup” for Biden with the presidential seal on it.

“I said I don’t think it’s good for anybody and it’s not appropriate,” Trump continued. “You can speak about it if you want, but I don’t think you should joke about it. And you really didn’t after that.”

I wonder why Trump wouldn’t want to discuss the fact that our President is too old and out of touch…..

I see nothing wrong with this position. Bringing it up is one thing, joking about it automatically turns off swing voters. This was a good answer from the orange man

Very smart.

It's a high road maneuver.

Old man thinks it is mean to make fun of old men. Obvious.

Yes, but he's only saying it because he's an old frick as well. He'll have turned 78 years old 5 months before the 2024 General Election takes place, and if he were to be re-elected he'd be 82 when his term ends. Basically the same shoes as Biden when he won in 2020.

Dementia is a sad thing and it can strike at any time, but this is why it's stupid to nominate old as frick people.

I didn’t see your thread title...

Trump defends Biden's age against Hannity

In the discussion by Trump.

The subject from Hannity was Biden’s mental state, not his age:
quote:

asked to comment on what he considers to be Biden’s mental and physical fitness challenges. While Hannity said he himself will not hesitate to criticize Biden’s acuity, he asked, “Why are you reluctant to call that out?”

And the two are not the same, they can be exclusive. Someone who is 80 can still be smart and wise while someone who is 65 can be mentally gone with dementia.

And Trump didn’t defend it:
quote:

it’s a serious problem.’”

To me, Trump played this well by describing Biden’s mental faculties as being so fricked up and sad that it wouldn’t be right to joke about his situation.

It’s like when someone purposefully calls out your situation by saying something like “I’m worried about you, are you okay? Did you take your pills today? You look awful.”

On a side note, it’s hilarious to see Trump telling someone not to make fun of someone lol.

I watched it live. It wasn’t about Joe’s age necessarily, it was about Joe’s lack of physical acuity. The context context around the conversation was Joe’s recent fall.

That. I don't care about Biden's age. Or Trump's age.
Biden was a frickin moron 40 years ago.
And everyone forgot he had a brain bleed with that aneurysm?
Was it that easy to memory hole that info or is it just too tempting for shills to rag on Biden's age so it can then be used against Trump?

This is one of the problems with running Trump. The “old” argument doesn’t work.
