Is there a franchise that has squandered so many generational talents?

This is what I imagine the basketball Gods look like when they see us finishing another season out of the playoffs, after they have gifted us Chris Paul, Anthony Davis and Zion Williamson.

chris paul you could argue was ownership. street clothes, enough said, Zion jury is out but quickly coming to a verdict

I’m gonna zag a little here
Zion has yet to show anything but flashing moments of brilliance. Nothing we can do to keep him on the court. Also, we’ve put very good players around him that complement him perfectly.
Anthony Davis was never going to win a title as the top dog. He’s the perfect second banana. We were aggressive in trying to put a good team around him, and while I don’t think the Cousins pairing would have yielded a title, it’s just bad luck to have him tear an achilles and THEN rebuke us. Didn’t send a good message to an impressionable young lady like AD. Also, our best team coincided with that Warriors run while they were kicking everybody’s arse - just bad timing there.
Chris Paul we squandered. Ownership was a disaster and we had no long term vision for putting a contender around him. That being said, he hasn’t exactly stacked the hardware in his career since, which is exactly the rationalization I’ll use to keep myself warm at night.

I mean sure we could say none of it is organization fault but a lot of it is. If we had stable ownership paul stays, AD was an idiot but if Dell resigned boogie and brought back Rondo- who knows and now Zion- who is literally a fat child inside a man body but part of teams responsibility to get him on track too.

We squandered CP3 with bad ownership for sure. AD we tried our best to build around him, made some great moves, and made some poor moves. We caught some bad breaks but realistically we were never going to beat the warriors in their prime. Don't give me that street clothes stuff. AD was pretty damn healthy here.
Zion is a different story, you can't squander 114 games in 4 years. Theres nothing there for you to squander.

Well I will say we changed our whole training staff this year so maybe the organization does sense a bit of failure on their end with Zion but to me its mostly him staying in shape.

Presti was dumb he chose to give Ibaka a big deal over Harden. Hes a great GM but that was a huge blunder.

Yeah that was a huge mistake but no one thought harden would blow up into an MVP. Not even houston

Yeah true and honestly Ibaka declined a good bit after that deal.

Maybe not an MVP, but the dude averaged 17 points off the bench during that last playoff run and he was only 22 years old. The talent was there
And did so on a team with Russ and KD, which tends to take shots away from others

You cant blame the organization for Zion and his questionable work ethic.

chris paul is a hall of famer and a top-3 all time PG
anthony davis is a hall of famer despite being a bleeding vagina

The franchise hasn't squandered a generational talent in Zion. Zion is squandering a generational talent in Zion.
