exactly. i voted for a literal brain surgeon to be Senator of Louisiana, but when everyone else just votes based on which color they prefer red or blue he had no chance.
he got 0.55% of the vote. this is a Libertarian candidate in a "conservative" state

Granted, I realize government is generally incompetent, but it sounds more like the vendor didn't let them know how serious it was until this week. I think most folks who have worked in IT security wouldn't find this terribly surprising.
quote:
“MOVEit’s owner sent notification of a vulnerability on May 31, 2023 in a blanket statement to all of its global customers,” Tingle said. “They did not know the scope of the impact or whether Louisiana was actually impacted. The state’s cyber incident response team, including officials from the Office of Technology Services, Louisiana State Police and GOHSEP, immediately initiated an intensive digital forensic investigation and response procedures. In the preliminary stages of the investigation, any data exposure was believed to be minimal and limited to less sensitive information, but the investigation continued. Late Wednesday, the investigating team realized that compromised records with OMV affected sensitive information for all Louisianans with state-issued IDs and motor vehicle certificates. They then began preparing a brief for Governor Edwards, which was conducted from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday. At the governor’s direction, GOHSEP, State Police, the Office of Technology Services and OMV moved promptly to notify the public of the possible exposure of sensitive data. At this time, no other servers have been identified as compromised by the bad actors.”

I hate the government just as much as the next guy, but 2 weeks actually isn't terrible if you know what goes into an investigation of an incident like that. This stuff takes time, and if you understate or overstate what actually happened, you will get eviscerated. It's not like the threat actors leave you a note listing all of the things they stole.

We now live in a post-accountability world for the Elites, the Left, & the poor. Only the middle class is subject to being held accountable for anything today. Nothing will happen.

Best decision wife and I have ever made was to get out of that state before we started a family. Both born, raised, and lifelong (sans military) residents educated in the state and we just couldn't stand it and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there by the time we left.

Your bank account was hacked?

No ones vote really ever matters. Its not like the people in office are the ones who really have the control, but that's a different topic.
Would this have happened if someone else was the governor? I think at least one other state was hacked right? And the Energy Department (which probably should be a bigger concern).
The cyber war is ongoing. Russia and China hacks into our shite, I am pretty sure we hack into their shite. Its a dangerous game they play.
