I stopped when I met the love of my life. I regret it everyday. She never tried to take my music away. I still have many instruments and play them from time to time.

So… you did or you didn’t then?

you stopped playing music because someone else is better than you?

I wouldn’t stop playing music because of that video. I might quit listening to it though. Acoustics and banjos are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Here's another one that will make you throw your guitar in the burn pit out back ...
The Entertainer
I quit playing music live 12 or so years ago when decades of excessive drinking had finally gotten out of hand, and even I knew I was on a road with an inevitably disastrous and horrific terminus. One of the ways almost eight years ago I became sober (finally) was by changing a lot of nouns in my life that weren't necessarily good for me. So today I focus on repairing, upgrading, restoring and building in my workshop versus playing out live in bars. I often joke with my clients that my Shack has fixed more than just fretted instruments.

The great thing about music (and "art" in general) is that no matter how technically good some people are, there's always room for simplicity.
Some of the most memorable and celebrated songs and works of art are elementary simple from a technical standpoint.

That performance of The Entertainer…damn.
Just drives home of what a hack guitar duffer I am.

I know right. I could do that, I just don’t want to.

Wow!! That was fun to watch.
I love this piece of music.
Took piano lesson for years. This was my favorite to play.
Playing an instrument is so impressive no matter how good.
Wish I would have taken it more seriously

Those who stop playing for fickle reasons, shouldn't have been playing at all.

People who play musical instruments are less likely to lose mental sharpness and physical skills as they get older.
I play the piano almost every day, and do some percussion of some kind 2-3 times a week.
You should reconsider your decision to stop.

Bela Fleck is on a different level. That was amazing.
