Dolly Parton reminds the British that she don’t worship royalty

While sure to cause a tiff in the tabloids, Dolly turns down tea with Kate. “Too much going on.”

Speaking with BBC Radio 2 in an interview that aired on Saturday, Parton lamented about how little time she had to enjoy the sights and see people while in London for work. “I even got invited to have tea with Kate and I felt so bad, I couldn’t even go,” Parton said, adding that her team “had all this stuff set up” while she was in town promoting her upcoming rock album “Rockstar.”
Parton said that while she thought the Princess’s gesture was “very sweet and nice,” she went on to joke that “she wasn’t going to promote my rock album, so I had to say no!” “But I hope she hears it, though!” Parton said with a laugh.

me too. One of the prettiest women on the planet.
I can't imagine how much of a PITA she'd be in the long run. Girls who think they are princesses are usually miserable to be around. Imagine an actual princess.

Never heard anything of the sort about her. By all accounts she seems to be genuinely kind.

I mean, not exactly. But good for Dolly I guess. She's in town on business and doesn't have time for shite that doesn't matter, like tea with KM.

I want to hate William and Kate but everytime i hear them or read about them, they are a pretty buttoned up couple that seem well grounded. She’s beautiful.

That's what's best about her. And the fact that she gives so much back to the community.
My favorite Dolly line was from her concert in NOLA years ago. She said people always ask if she's mad Whitney Houston made her version of I Will Always Love You more famous than Dolly's. She said something like heck no I get paid everytime it's played.
I didn't read the article as she doesn't worship royalty. Just that, like you said, she's there on business.

This is where Dolly is wrong. She is getting publicity for saying no. I had no clue she was promoting a new album. I do now thanks to this. Maybe she would have gotten even more publicity had she gone to have tea with her. Pictures dropped in the tabloids, the album is talked about in the articles, boom, free publicity.
