We obviously don’t have the great defense we had on our 2003 and 2011 teams. The offense has never really had a QB run this much, so I am not sure.

07 maybe. Senior starting QB. Good but not great defense. Weapons on offense, but no real absolute gamebreakers.

I don’t consider this LSU team a national championship type team but Brian Kelly is building this program like Saban did. We may win a title within the next four seasons.

I was thinking that too, I just looked at the 2003 box score vs Oklahoma and Mauck had 14 rushes.

How is that obvious when we haven’t yet played a game? Give it a month and get back to us.

We don’t have that standout guy in the secondary like we always used to seem to have.

I agree with you, on paper it just don’t have the playmakers we are accustomed to having in secondary.

Mauck had bad game vs Oklahoma in the championship game. Not as bad as the Florida game dud though.

Too answer the question, 2007 is probably most correct.

Very true, I was thinking of the 2003 offense with Mauck and then 2007 with Flynn, throw in the 2011 team with Lee/JJ, it seems other than Burrow in 2019, our best teams were not teams that had a high profile offense, that’s all.

Not sure, but had we won the SECCG last season would have been pretty much identical to 2001.

- Got destroyed by an SEC East team
- Lost to a crappy divisional opponent (OM in ‘01, A&M last year)
- Won a game no one expected us to (UTk in 01, Bama last year)
- Destroyed a Big 10 team in the bowl

I miss LSU having players like a Sklyer Greene type, it sure gives the team another weapon having guys that provide that extra spark. If you watched USC, you saw how their 5 star true freshman, Branch changes the entire game.

That seems to be the only area where we're lacking and it's more of an "unknown" at this point than it is a hole

With all the talk about the d line hopefully it makes the secondary look better than it is
