Look...I don't know why we on the Politic Talk board continue to circle jerk when it comes to the war in Ukraine, but it isn't ending anytime soon. For the past year and some change, poster after poster has posted videos proclaiming that Ukraine has only X amount of days remaining before their military collapses. Each video has proven to be untrue as the front continues to remain stagnant.

Well, I know they have been dragging on the ATACMS and for good reason. It is obvious Ukraine can not win and I do believe the slow walk out of it has begun.

Our government is probably sell our entire arsenal to Russia through the Ukrainian farce they have people buying into. We are probably being disarmed by our own government.

They already won. Sanctions made them stronger. Resolve among the Russian people has never been higher in their history. Their military is bigger and better than at any time since the USSR fell. They have not only stopped NATO expansion into Ukraine, they have NATO fractured. This is a series of L's for the west. Russia won. The longer this drags on, the bigger Russia's force becomes and the more untenable it becomes for NATO to do anything if it desires to do so in the future. Ukraine is done.

Such platitudes don't make any sense when the front hasn't moved significantly in well over a year. But sure...continue to tell yourself this. One of these days it might even become reality. However, at the present moment, there are no winners in the Russo-Ukraine War. Hundreds of thousands of men are dead in a war that shows no sign of ever winding down.

NATO just added two more members. NATO members are spending more on defense. NATO is acting in unison to thwart Russian expansion. Russia has not looked like a super power here. A much smaller nation is fighting back and holding its own now for months and months when the smart money had them getting steam rolled.

If not for the geopolitical missteps by the illegitimate regime and subsequent forced monetary support from US taxpayers the Ukraine/Russia conflict never escalates into the current shite show.

What are the geopolitical objectives to "winning?" Ukraine wants Russia pushed out of their territory and to end the war on the basis of a return to original borders, presumably. What are Russia's goals? They appear entrenched in their Eastern positions in Ukraine with little likelihood of Ukraine being capable of ousting them. Ukraine has had enormous resources contributed to them from international powers which substantially boosted their power projection and has attempted major offensives to oust the Russians at great human cost for little strategic gain. Who stands in a better position in a battle of attrition? It appears the Russians.
If the Ukrainians and their Western backers are only interested in ending the war on the terms of complete Russian withdrawal from Ukraine and zero concessions, this does not look like it has much likelihood for success absent international escalation and the more direct entry to the conflict of Western actors.
Are the rewards/interests worth the risk of this for the West? That's the debate currently being had.
