Dude plays hard on defense.

Never stops moving on both sides of the ball.

I never understood the complaints about his defense in Summer League and preseason. People acted like he was getting abused and I just never saw it. In real games so far, he gets out of position a lot, but he’s long and active enough to recover.
I’m not saying he’s great on defense, but what I’ve seen just doesn’t fit the complaints people have made.

His individual defense was never a problem. Dude plays very well on the ball.
All the people that said he was terrible on defense have NEVER watched him play in college.
And as long as he takes to coaching, which it seems like he does, his team defense will keep improving. Once he gets the rotations down and gets strong enough physically to fight through tough screens he can be a very good defender.
And anyone questioning his shot because of summer league were idiots. Dude has a legit stroke. One of the best I've seen. He just needed to settle in and play something a bit more organized than summer league to be able to shine.

Guy is ELITE at the most valuable skill in the NBA. Didn't matter who it was though, a certain portion of the fanbase was going to shite on the draft pick because they decided it was Scoot or bust.
Same group that turned on Ingram because he won't take their required amount of 3s, dumped on the Hawkins pick immediately.

I’ll stay shitting on Ingram because for us to be our best he needs to take 6-7 3’s a game.
I also loved the Hawk pick, anytime you can get the best shooter in the draft on a team with Zion, you take him.

Finally feels like we have adequate shooting threats off the bench this year. Once Jose and Trey comes back, we should be raining 3s at a high rate. Our bench took 20 threes last night. And all of them were in the flow of the offense.

Right Hawkins has played fine but it’s two fricking games lmao. It’s like people questioning scoots game after two games in the other thread. Some posters are just bored
Guys scores 9 points, and people are ready to run to TD saying “see I told you so”

Oh I know it won’t happen, and thats why we will never be the best version of ourselves with Ingram on this team.
We will always be a good team with health, but to take that leap into great/elite territory we will need Ingram to take that next step.

If Ingram and Zion are going to be the only two guys on the team taking twos in bulk, we have plenty shooters around them to get an adequate amount up.

Hawkins looked like a taller version of ‘Scarry Terry’ Rozier ……No hesitation in his game

It’s definitely not wrong.
Last season Ingram shot 44% from midrange, 39% from 3.
For every 100 midrange shots he takes he makes on average 88 points.
For every 100 3 point shots he takes he makes on average 117 points.
Thats a 29 point swing, or basically the equivalent of an entire game of scoring every 6-8 games, and all he has to do is take 2 steps back.
This would also add to the spacing that will allow Zion to continue to dominate, and it will increase the space Ingram has when he goes inside

This ignores the fact that he may not be open to take a lot more 3s.
He is a drive and shoot type of guy and that gives him his rhythm to shoot those mid range shots well.
He's a pretty good catch and shoot guy from 3, but he isn't somebody who is great at it from an iso position with the ball in his hand and a defender in his face.
People ignore the fact that as Ingram has gotten better and more ball dominant, teams have started playing him differently than in the past. And one of those years he took a ton of 3s was also the year Zion played his most games.
Maybe with a healthy Zion his numbers tick up, but with how his game evolved and how teams guard him you aren't going to see a drastic change in his play.

quote:Ingram was below average league efficiency at scoring the basketball last season. Not my opinion, just a fact.
Have fun with that.
It matters.... a lot if you want the Pels to max out their talent.
