Other than fixing some rotten boards, leveling it and putting down some vapor barrier anyone have any other suggestions while it's wide open?

Now's the chance. Almost impossible to get into this area.. Crawl space is tight.

We went ahead and capped a water line on the wall behind where the range is going for some gay pasta filler and we aren't going with an island so we put a floor outlet where we plan to put a huge wooden work table for mixers and junk.

Ceiling is open as well so I'm entertaining all ideas of things we would regret not planning for now.

ETA i should mention all electrical is fresh and a brand new line was pulled for the range.

Running power to where you might want it later was going to be my #1.

Also make sure when the subfloor goes back in that it’s secure. Last thing you want is a $50k kitchen with a squeaky floor.

I did a bunch of research not long ago and settled on Armacost led strip lighting. Unlike most amazon sellers, aramacost is UL LISTED and seem to have some sort of reputation to uphold unlike SUPERHAPPYUSAHOTDOGLIGHTINGz.

link to just one of thier many products

They come in remote version or controllable from a light switch dimmer version. Also they sell kits like in link above or separate components. Operate on either 12 or 24v dc. Need to have a - and + run to under the cabinets.

I generally shy away from fads but under cabinet lighting is great.

great idea. i put that waterproof tape all along the tops of the joists for the deck i made a few years ago.

completely forgot about that. its cheap insurance for $20 for the joists that are connected to the sides of the house.

eta our floor is flush with the concrete outside and has been known to leak (see pic) so i'd love any other thoughts on ways to guard against future water intrustion. keep in mind without jack-hammering up the outside, any adjustments would need to be made on the interior.

note the shitty OSB to the left which hasn't been pulled up yet. you can see there has been water damage over the years (house was built in 78)

shite

thats a great idea. not sure where i would place it since we already have a plan for the new cabinets that doesn't include one.

gonna have to think about that one for a minute. we have one behind our bar in the next room over so maybe its overkill for second one but it never hurts to overplan.

Yeah, I am looking at adding one, but it is gonna be TIGHT at either spot where it makes sense.

I wish I would have ran a water line to where my coffee maker is and could connect it. Such a small inconvenience to fill the coffee pot in the sink then walk 10 feet to dump it in the coffee maker, but I do this every day and spill or drip water on the floor 90% of the time.

shite that is a FANTASTIC IDEA.

we are going to have a coffee bar so that would be really nice.

pot filler for the coffeemaker! GENIUS

bet this gets used a hella lot more than the dumb pasta filler for the range.

my 15yo daughter is CONSTANTLY making fruit smoothies with frozen berries; if the blender lives with the coffeemaker, she could just fill the blender with water there.

THANK YOU THANK YOU

just do it so you can install the water purifying filter so its hidden inside the cabinets so its out of sight, yet easy to get to

i think we have a whole-house culligan water filter. i have been so busy i haven't had a chance to look it up yet.

anyone recognize this?

i think its an older model of some sort but not sure if its just a softener or what.

Our new house had a pot filler, I had never had one.. I though it was the most useless thing I ever saw. Fast forward a few years and I may not figure out how to put water in a pot without it.

I’ll add a suggestion for under cabinet outlets.

It makes backsplash just a thing of seamless beauty untainted by ugly outlets that break up the art. And it allows you to space out as many as you want for functionality without concern as to how it looks.

Yeah, most people will have to tilt their heads to plug something in, but a 2 second nuisance is paying off 99.998% of the time.

Bunn, and I'm sure several other brands, have commercial type units where you feed a flex water line into the back. If we ever get around to a kitchen remodel, I'm going that route. It won't be a pot filler faucet like was pictured, but water that goes directly into the coffee maker from the rear. Never have to fill a coffee pot with water again.

link to pic? so are you talking outlets under the uppers? do they have to have a larger base to hide the box & wiring?

i'm intrigued; just confused.

eta: ooooo, is this it? I LIKE IT
