LDWF redfish meeting

Whether you are for or against the three fish limit, majority so far speaking are for 3 redfish. The science shows a 30 year plan recovery will work faster with 3 fish limit. Yet 2 members of the commission don’t even show up. Typical Louisiana politics

Doesn't matter. What is the menhaden industry giving up? Answer: Absolutely nothing

Real solution that will never happen
- Ban pogie boats
- 3 fish limit
- outlaw bowfishing

We know the pogie industry should be banned. That doesn’t fix the problem

frick em all. They’ll keep hacking away at the recreational fisherman until we have no reason to launch the boat.

Wut? The pogey industry estimates their unregulated ANNUAL catch total at 1 Billion pounds, with an estimated 5% bycatch. That's 50 million pounds of dead redfish, trout, flounder, tarpon, croaker, etc.

and the clapping seals will cheer and agree to take all your fish away
they may as well just say no fish can be kept ever
that way the pogie boats can continue to kill them by the millions

Guess who donates to a fish hatchery owned by CCA in southwest LA? You guess it the pogie boat association. Lmao

What’s causing it and what can be done about it are two different conversations.

While we’re at it, let’s just make it legal to only catch them with fly rods.
I’m not opposed to more regulation for bowfishing, but calling for a ban is just ignorant.

MIA means they have already determined what's going down.
I did not realize we had a fish hatchery in S W La.

What was the outcome of the meeting this morning? Saw some indication of 4 fish, no guide limit, no bulls. What about snapper season?
Posted on 3/7/24 at 3:47 pm to Icansee4miles
4 reds per day, 18"-27" only, no guide limit and goes into affect July or August
Snapper, 4/15, 7 days a week, 4 per person
Just got that from the guy running the Lake Charles fish hatchery.
