That’s another of my own favorite genres. The Chiffons are my favorites in that genre and I’m choosing this example because (a little trivia) it was the song playing on KLIF in Dallas when they broke in with the first bulletin on the JFK assassination.

The Chiffons: “I Have a Boyfriend,” 1963

The Shangri-Las - "I Can Never Go Home Anymore"

Supposedly this is the least requested top 10 hit (non novelty) on oldies radio

The Marvelettes, considered by purists to be Motown's only true "Girl Group" (a gg is not necessarily a GG)

Still, its one of the greatest records ever made.

I'm willing to bet Mary Weiss' anguished cries of "Mama!" were an inspiration to John Lennon & his "Mama don't GOOOOOO!" in "Mother" on Plastic Ono Band

they define 60's music to me as much as the guys, so yes. even if alot of them were "one hit wonders"

the Ronettes
the Marvelettes
the Shirelles
the Angels
the Supremes

Ronnie Spector might have been the best singer of them all.

Heat Wave

I legit love that song.

One of my favorite of all time. Love the Shirelles. Baby It's You, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, and Mama Said are all on my play list.

The Cake - "Baby That's Me" (1967)

Perhaps the last great GG record; arranged by NO's Harold Batiste.
