LSU and SMU have agreed to a two-year neutral site agreement as part of their non-conference schedules, first reported by Made For March on X.
The first matchup takes place this year on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Fort Worth, Texas, in Dickies Arena. The following matchup is during the 2025-26 season which will be in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
The Mustangs just finalized a move to the ACC in hopes of elevating their athletics to the high-major standard and continue to make progress in hoops with the hiring of new head coach Andy Enfield from USC. SMU went 20-13 overall last year and 11-7 in the AAC under head coach Rob Lanier, but quickly moved on from Lanier once the season ended in hopes of bringing in a bigger name.

Andy Enfield is coach at SMU now
He's the coach that backed out on returning the trip when he was at USC after LSU played them at Lakers home court
Let's see if he returns the game to New Orleans

Are our coaches and deputy athletic director incapable of getting the first game at the home or “home neutral” site in all sports?

And this can't be an actual home and home why?

Yeah. We always seem to agree to play away first which allows the frickers to back out of the return trip.

Dickies Arena in Cowtown.
Arena design resembles that of the LSU Ag Center.
Planning to be there.

Kansas State played here last year, so LSU had the first game of that home-and-home.
They're playing in the LIttle Apple this season.

I assumed LSU would schedule a neutral site major conf opponent. SMU doesn’t move the needle. But the unfortunate truth right now is…neither does LSU…which is why it may be a bit difficult to schedule “big names”

Since when is the ACC not a major conference for basketball?

SMU finished 65 in the NET last season. They hired Andy Enfield away from USC and will likely improve. This could end up being a quad 1 game for us.
LSU has a pretty solid non-conference schedule this year.
