Club face to swing path

Good morning,
Anyone have any good images or ideas about club face and swing path?
It sometimes feels like it would make sense to open it as you swing back to you can easily bring club back behind shoulder.
But it’s more of a feel vs real type thing.
Anywho, any input, thoughts would be appreciated

To clarify; I think I mean the face through the whole swing, not just at impact.

I try not to tinker too much, but usually the ball will start where I point the face.
It will curve based on the path. IF path is relatively closed, it will draw or hook. IF path is open relative to the face, it will fade or slice.
And of course, if I setup to hit a cut, I can double cross it as long as there is a hazard or boundary to the left. It’s a feature, not a bug.

What would be some check points in the swing?
Where should face be at top? Etc.

This may be sacrilegious to some.
I sort of subscribe to the Ernest Jones/Manuel de la Torres idea of the golf swing as a continuous motion. Positions and parts are not part of their teaching in that a swing takes too short of time to break it into multiple parts.
That said, I try to swing the club where it “feels” outside my hands for most of the backswing, then drops and moves from inside to the golf ball.
At some level, each golfer has to figure out what motion they understand and what instruction makes sense to them.
Some people are scientists and like “P1,P2” etc. others are more artist like and consider the swing as a whole where they setup properly and then let the swing happen.

With everyone’s swing being different based on their body and ability, it’s hard to say that everyone should be in one position at certain parts of the swing.
Also, those positions are just thoughts to have when practicing to get the club on path. That’ll change based on your preferred ball flight, shite shape, and your swing.
You could find a pro who’s swing and shot shape you’re trying to copy. There’s tons of swing breakdowns on-line/YouTube

You could do a lot worse than following Ben Hogan's philosophy of eliminating one side of the course.
It's a genius idea when you consider budget and roll.
I never got too hung up of swing paths, cupped wrist, etc ... as long as I did my best to square the face at impact.
Most people have a natural movement and if you play with a proper grip, the club will get there.
Look at Keegan Bradley yesterday, I don't think 99% of golf teachers would teach that way of lowering his hands and club.

I focus on turning my back to the target by turning from my waist; not sliding back. I believe if you turn from your waist first and extend the club straight back you promote a lot of good things. I also play a driver baby fade 95% of the time except on holes demanding a draw.

Don’t look for positions. Just find matchups that allow the 18 inches at the bottom to be repeatable with some speed. That’s all that matters, and there’s a lot of different ways to get there

Pic #1 is open, Pic #2 is closed and Pic #3 is where you want to be. In the big scheme of things, it matters but it doesn't as long as you can get the club head back to the position below at impact.
As someone said in an earlier post, there are a lot of ways to get to this final impact position and not everyone has the same swing but what separates good players from bad ones is that they all look the same at impact. See how he's hitting down on the ball, his low poing of his swing is about an inch in front of his ball.
On his driver swing his low point is about an inch before he strikes the ball, you hit the driver on the way up.
All the pros and low handicap players look like these two pics at impact with both their irons and driver.
Try and find a swing that fits you and one that you can repeat, If you know you always hit a fade, that's a good thing to know. That means you can tee the ball up on the right side of the tee box and the fairway opens up for your fade, same thing with a draw, just tee it up on the left side of the tee box. If you're having problems with your swing, swing path, face angle and so on, get a lesson or two and practice. Don't get discouraged, keep practicing and remember GOLF IS HARD, if it were easy, everyone would be on tour.
One more thing, think of a clock and 12 O'clock is pointed to your target line, try and hit the ball at 7 O'clock.

This is going to end poorly!

make sure your grip is good. if it's good, the back of your lead hand will tell you what the clubface is doing.
most amateurs roll the clubface open in the initial part of the backswing, which means the rest of the swing is a series of compensations, including path. if your clubface is in a good spot, your body will more than likely swing on a better path.

This is what I’m trying to avoid and looking for! The rolling of the club face.
I find myself straying into this after a while and have to revert back to making sure my face stays closed when I swing back.
