Can someone tell me what the Cajun word for witch is?

I’ve searched the internet and the word they are showing is not the word I’m looking for, but just the French word.

Help.

A Dictionary of the Cajun Language

An old friend of mine's uncle wrote this.

Now in its seventh printing, the new revised edition is a must for every household of Cajun descent. It comprises a section of English to Cajun and one of Cajun to English. Hardcover, 640 pages, 6x9 inches

According to “A Dictionary of the Cajun Language” by Rev Msgr. Jules O. Daigle

Witch = Sorciere

which the same as the French word that you already looked up so I suppose this is not the word you are looking for.

Witch Doctor = Traiteur

Not a witch but might the word you are looking for be “treateur” which is mystic type of healer?

Isn’t a traiteur more of a folk healer than a witch doctor ?

I have an o!d copy somewhere, didn't know they still print it.

The witches of the swamp were abolished years ago, a contemporary term for a female would be more appropriate.
