Catholic Bishops go on record urging voters to vote down all proposed state laws and constitutional amendments intended to promote or protect Abortion rights.

Good. I'm pro-life, but I want it kept at the state level.

And that should shock absolutely no one.

We are fighting against the States that want to enshrine Abortion access in their own laws and in their own state constitutions.

Right. And I hope we win those fights. Just don't want it being brought up at the federal level.

Keep pushing for a national abortion ban and we're going to get full-on communism and a Supreme Court loaded with Marxists. Besides, what amendment to the U.S. Constitution makes this a federal issue? Since it isn't addressed either way, it's a state issue.

What other principles should we abandon ground on to win elections?
quote:This needs to be a constitutional amendment, but until that can happen, the GOP should be fighting to support the preborn in whatever capacity possible. There are plenty of federal actions that can be taken on this issue.

You opted out.
What you have to say here on this day is irrelevant.

Exactly. They will tell you how to vote, then go rape little kids.
People still fill those collection plates though

You wanting to slide it in under interstate commerce like the FedGov does with every other bullshite law?

My brother- we are not abandoning our principles to win elections. (Some are, sure) States rights re abortion is the way to go. For now. There is much ground to be gained, but it will not happen all at once. We are tasked with eating an elephant. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

This needs to be a constitutional amendment
I agree, as do all true Christians. But a national abortion ban, in this current political climate, would be like trying to thaw out a frozen windshield by throwing boiling water on it. We need to play the long game. I know you think that means compromising your convictions (which you rightly hold), but kicking abortion back to the states is the best first step.
One of the most attractive, and glaring differences between Christianity and Islam, is that we don’t force our beliefs onto unbelievers. If we are to be a Christian nation (again), it will be because people recognize the validity and merits of Christianity- not because we outlaw sin.
