Democratic strategist James Carville said Vice President Harris had “every advantage” in the presidential race but lacked a motivating reason behind her campaign.

Carville unpacked Harris’s defeat in an interview released Saturday on “The Bulwark Podcast” with Tim Miller.

“By the way, she had every advantage. We had a united party, from Dick Cheney to AOC, everybody was, whatever you want to do is fine,” Carville said, referring to the former Republican vice president and to progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), both of whom backed Harris’s campaign.

“We had more people on the ground. We had more volunteers, we had more money, all right? We had more surrogates, but we didn’t have a reason,” Carville continued.

Carville said the campaign was strong but that “since the dawn of time,” no number of resources or technology could overcome lacking a reason to vote for a candidate.

“You cannot not have a reason and beat it with technology, or beat it with volunteers, or do that,” Carville continued. “The overall message here, Tim: A reason, and she didn’t give us a reason.”

Carville also pointed to President Biden’s insistence on staying in the race as a mistake that deprived talented young politicians the chance to move up and generate real excitement. Having a primary process, Carville said, would have served the party well.

quote:

“If we would have had this process, we’d have had gone through it, and we would have had this mega level of talent that exists, and all of these people would have been different. It would have been energetic. It would have created a sense of real excitement,” Carville said.

“Biden, he just blocked all that from happening,” he added.

And that, in a nutshell, is why they lost.

They cannot look inward and admit the problem is with their ideology. Harris was a crap candidate, but we all knew that from the day she took over the run for the white house.

The motivating reason behind her campaign was identical to that supposedly behind the 81 million vote* potatobrain .... "I'm not Trump!"

Carville refuses to admit he candidacy was an experiment to determine where the American populace was and the pushback received gave them the answer they needed.

Obviously, the democratic party was very pre-mature with their latest attempt to gain ultimate control of the people. Fortunately, it was to the detriment of the leftist movement and a real positive gain for the American people.

One big problem. What Harris/Walz were selling nobody was buying. The issues that matters for most of was the economy and illegal immigration and they had no clue.

Oh, don’t be naïve, they had a reason – to f*cking destroy the United States of America and all it has ever stood for.

The problem is they couldn’t say it out loud. Which, of course, is why she couldn’t answer any f*cking questions.

Ultimately, he blames Biden.

Harris was an empty pant suit. Most of the electorate knows that. She was unelectable in 2020 and was still unelectable in 2024.

He is correct though that she had every advantage. All of the corrupt dominant media and the elites in this country told us lessers that she was the best choice. Well, we just told our 'betters' that we don't believe that.

Yeah, every advantage except she had either no policy position, a flipped policy position, or a shite policy position.

On top of that, she’s extremely unlikable and has no track record.

But yeah, beyond that she did have every advantage because Dems usually have that thanks to the media, academia, and Hollywood.

Exactly. It’s one thing to have a broad tent where you find real common ground despite some differences. But it’s another thing entirely for diametrically opposed world and political views to basically sell out everything they believe to come together as one because … Orange Man Bad.

Made them look like unprincipled fools running on nothing but their TDS.
