I have business meetings in Tokyo and at Shima Kanko at Ago Bay. Flying the whole family out for two weeks to coincide with my trip. What are the must see attractions and places I should visit during the two weeks for anyone that has made the trip before?

I lived in Japan but on Kyushu. The beautiful thing about Japan is that every day normal things will feel like an adventure for your family. Restaurants, shrines, nature, shopping etc will be so different that it will all feel like an adventure.Use the trains and eat at cheap yakitoris and enjoy the quality beer and food. Learn some rudimentary phrases.

My wife laughed at me learning them as she was getting by with English, but I had the last laugh when I asked where the bandages were at a convenience store after the clerk there didn't understand her.
I claim victory.

The cherry blossom forecast will be issued in January, but should be late March or early April.
To add to other comments, learn the basics about the rule following culture in addition to rudimentary phrases. Such as, you do not eat/drink and walk in public, if a sign says no phone use (ie on a bus) for example, they’re serious.
And always remember when you hear the word, “gaijin,” they’re referring to one of you foreigners, lol.

Go to Kyoto.
Wife and I argued a bit about more time in Tokyo versus Kyoto. We were both glad I won that argument in Kyoto’s favor. Tokyo is a cool city, but Kyoto is special.

I'm currently arguing with myself about doing an extra day in Kyoto vs. taking a day trip to Hiroshima

How many days in Kyoto are we talking about in the alternative?

2 vs 3 days

I wouldn’t even consider taking a day from Kyoto until I hit day 4 or 5. Unless Hiroshima is some bucket list thing for you, I would say Kyoto, not close.
