Yesterday my aunt was attacked by a small buck as she tried to assist her dog who was being attacked by the deer. She received a large laceration in her leg.

I got called to see if I was around because she couldn’t get out of the house. The deer wouldn’t run off. I was an hour away.

My mom goes over there and she can’t get out of the car. Neighbor shows up and blocks the deer with his truck so she can’t get inside. Acadian Ambulance was called and they couldn’t get to the house either. The neighbor then grabbed the deer by his horns so they could get inside.

Game warden finally shows up and has to shoot the deer 3x. They ended up cutting his head off. 1 1/2 yr old with sounded like a 3pt rack. Agent said he was healthy looking.

Anyone ever heard of this behavior? The young buck would not leave.

I was thinking this couldn’t be CWD and then read this as a symptom - “Behavioral changes: Loss of fear of humans.”

Guess these 1 1/2 yr olds bucks, in their first breeding season, are like a college freshman on his first weekend after school starts.

the younger deer are getting their arse kicked and run off by the older, more dominant bucks. In the wild, younger deer rarely get a chance to breed so they will hump anything when given the chance.

Was it not deer season for someone to have not shot the damn thing earlier?

Eta: hope she has a quick recovery and must have been frightening for her

They no longer have guns in the house and the neighbor was a teenager that didn’t show up with a gun.

When I was called and being told what was happening, I kept saying “why hasn’t someone shot him yet?”

Fake News. No buck would last this long in a yard in Louisiana.

Not CWD not anything remotely CWD. Just that time of year where testosterone is high in bucks and they are aggressive. Its Nature and we as humans forget that.

Where were these young bucks looking for poontang when I was hunting during the rut?

This is a still shot from a video my aunt took. I would post the video, but I’d probably catch hell for it.

He hooked her about 2 seconds after this pic.

The dog is a full grown male goldendoodle and is as big or bigger than the deer.

Friend about 1/2 mile down the road that raises deer for sell says it’s not his deer. His all have ear tags and, I believe, orange collar.
