I remember buying some incredible heavy wool woolrich coats at Friedmans Army Navy Surplus in Nashville in the 90’s and early 2000’s. They were great for hunting and casual. Super warm and well made not to mention affordable. I think they were made in usa.
Now it seems they have gone woke/metrosexual and theres not really much that resembles the old woolrich outdoor clothing on their websiite. Probably made in china if i had to guess. Is there anything that comes close to what this company used to make? Will he looking at filson but if i recall they werent quite the same.

I have a Filson Tin cloth field jacket on the way to me right now.

Will be getting the wool vest insert.
Will using it as a farm jacket and whatever else.

Not sure what other companies are currently making wool stuff. Might can get some jackets from Orvis but you’ll be paying that Orvis name premium.

Get one of the old ones on ebay.

ETA: Just snagged a Filson wool jacket on ebay for around $100. I think it might be the liner for one of their Makinaws, though . Guess I'll have to find a used jacket to go with it. I have too damn many jackets.

I have a wool Columbia jacket I bought from BassPro probably 15 years ago.
It’s hard to find a good wool jacket made in the USA now. A good one is $400 to $500

I have an old thick Columbia wool camo hunting coat that’s my go to winter coat. They quit making them but you can find them sometimes on eBay.

Merino wool base + fleece hooded jacket + Columbia= ??

For new maybe look at the LL Bean or Legendary Whitetails wool coats

Or if you prefer a more “modern” look, Schneel’s makes a good wool coat.

When its gets real cold i base layer with UA 3.0 underneath a Columbia Gallatin Pants and Jacket set bought from Cabelas before they merged with BassPro.
