Any chance this would still be edible?

A friend of mine realized he had some ground elk in his freezer. Still seal and never thawed, but it could be 20 years old.
Any chance it would still be good?

I usually knock anything out before 2 years is up. Wouldn’t even think about 20, personally. Probably wouldn’t even give it to the dog.

Trim the freezer burn off and send it. The freezer burned part is still edible but tastes funky. I'd imagine if it's 20 years old it's mostly burnt, though.

If it is mixed w pork, 3 years max.
2 is about it. The pig fat will go bad.

I’m more impressed a freezer worked for 20 years

Maaaaaaaan, I had some smoked boudin in the fridge for ‘bout a week, wife mentioned it looked like my d*&k after a few hours in the pool, threw it out in the trash. Broke my heart…

Only if I was starving and that’s all I had to eat. Was it vacuum sealed or wrapped in freezer paper?

I would eat it, but I just like to take risks in life.

I always thought meat properly wrapped in white paper was good forever, but forever being like 5 years. 20????
Id damn sure thaw it out and see what it was like.

Your wife thinks your dick is gross

Sounds like the wife has handled plenty of boudin during her lifetime.

Freezers are hit or miss. I've got one that is over 15 years old while it has had a series other freezers with it in the garage during that time.

No. From experience, no.

Older freezers seem to last forever. My in-laws have two that are probably 40+ years old. They suck electricity, but they were built to last. Newer appliances are built to be replaced.
