This. It sucks that idiots and d-bags have given a hunting clothing brand a bad name, but it really is the best stuff, in my opinion. Especially since most people at least know somebody that gets a 40% discount, so it’s not terribly priced with that.
For duck hunting, it’s hard to beat the duck oven jacket with the high chest pockets. I’ll probably have mine on tomorrow while deer hunting in my saddle.

If I were a duck hunter I'd 100% go with Sitka. Ive never heard anybody i know who wears it complain about it.

Sitting in the marsh about 4 years ago, me and my buddy, soaking wet, freezing and sitting in Pearl River WMA. I was so sick of feeling that wet and cold. That afternoon I bought a Delta Wading Jacket and Sitka pants, just the outer layer stuff. The amount of hunts I’ve been in rain/boat splash since then , has made it so worth it. People like to hate, but for staying dry and warm, fuuuuccckkk a world of difference.

People who argue that premium hunting stuff is useless just don’t hunt in conditions that make the premium stuff useful. Hunting in the wet cold makes high quality waterproof stuff a great investment. A .5+ mile walk carrying gear in 30 degrees makes a breathable, insulated set of clothes useful.

Here we go with this again…
I put in more hours in the woods in a season, than you’ve probably put in over the last 5 seasons. From south Louisiana to northern Missouri. I know what keeps me comfortable in all conditions. And I afford my hobby just fine.

You gotta admit that the whole "outdoor" industry has become a big marketing push to sell merch. Now it's all about what you wear and the gear you use.

That being the reality, polarization occurs. You have one side of the spectrum who embraces the change, and the other that strongly pushes back to the other extreme.

Growing up we hunted in jeans and flannel shirts / work jackets, but I can appreciate the quality of the expensive stuff.

I will put my vote in for Kuiu. They just dropped a waterfowl line of clothing, but their other stuff is fantastic. Attack pants are probably the best pants out there.

Sitka or the KUIU waterfowl line. Both are great!

From what I’ve found in 40 years of hunting

Mossy Oak store
Kuiu
Nomad

All very high quality quality. I hunt in SWMS so it doesn’t get terribly cold.

Get you a nice pair of bibs, some merino wool socks, underwear, and base layer (top and bottom)

Don’t layer too thick. Merino will do the trick if you can stop the wind.

I’ve also purchased some 100% wool pants. They are expensive, but amazing. I’ll link them here LINK

Get a quality hat and some quality gloves.

It’s all you’ll ever need.

I try to stay true to one pattern: Mossy Oak Bottomland.

There’s definitely a big business in hunting that people are pushing high dollar stuff. It’s probably being sold for a lot more than what they could sell it for too. You then get this status thing where kids with squatted truck have their Sitka camo they wear around town that make it look ridiculous.

With that said, the difference in wearing Sitka’s incinerator jacket/bib combo vs a Berne Jacket/bib when being in freezing, wet cold with a haul of a walk to your spot is going to be unbelievably different. If both were free, nobody would even think twice about which one to choose.

Just try to use wool or specifically merino wool when you can. Mossy Oak store online has great deals....its much cheaper, more regional to us, and all you'll really need.
