MIL wants to buy me a new handgun and gave me a $600 budget.

Would place it in my truck for a truck gun purpose. Or I already have a Springfield Hellcat that I can move to my truck and replace my bedside stick.

Any suggestions?

Looking at
Sig P365 XL
Sig P320
HK VP9L
Canik SFxRival

I would stick with Sig's P365 line over the P320.

Would be surprised if you can find a Rival under $600. Canik's Mete or Tp9/mc9 for sure are under $600

If you plan on carrying on you, the P365 (or the XL) is the gun. Hands down.

If you don't have plans to carry, VP9. One of the best triggers in striker fired guns.

I have both of those and the p320. I shoot the VP9 and P365xl the most

Yeah I don't know if the OP does it or not, I assume so. After all, he said "truck gun". But it's weird to me how people keep loaded firearms in their vehicles to potentially be stolen.

I conceal carry. I can’t think of any reason at all to keep my pistola in my car or truck over night. It seems like such a dumb thing to do.

But to answer the question. SW Shield Plus.

I park in a garage and work from home. I don't plan on keeping it in my truck 24/7

Thank you for being proactive. I see too many people who just throw one under the driver's seat or in the center console.
Then they're shocked when someone breaks in and steals it.

That is how stolen guns get into the hand of street thugs.

I've always wanted to try a CZ P-07 or a FN 509/FNX.

On your list, I'd narrow it down to the p365 or VP9 though.

keep it in the truck when it get swamped in the surf and waves. Leave it rusted for years, pull the trigger and that son of a bitch will go bang.

If you intend to keep a gun in your truck, make sure you put an NRA sticker on a window to let thieves know there's a gun in there. It's the courteous thing to do.

M&P 2.0
Walther PDP

Thr Glock 45 MOS is a little over $600, but it's probably my favorite Glock. The CZ P10 is a great budget pistol too.

My M&P 40 has become my favorite shooter.
Grip, sights, smooth action have grown on me. Only thing I’m thinking about doing is putting in an Apex action enhancement trigger kit to drop the trigger pull to 3-4 pounds. 180 bucks
