Supposed to be warm these next few days across the southeast. How do you guys do while hunting in warm weather? Sometimes i go and most of the time i dont even bother going due to the warm weather and bugs. i just see more deer when its cooler.

Deer are going to do deer things regardless of temperature, you just have to adjust to be where they want to be
Killed my IL buck this year at 2:30 PM when it was 70*

I'm usually sweating after pulling one in for half a mile or more, even with the cart. It definitely sucks more when it's 70, but yesterday it was 53 and I still sweat my arse off getting one in. Sitting in the tree is no big deal though.

Our rut is getting fired up. Wouldn’t care if I had to wear shorts. I’m going to be in the stand as often as possible during the rut.

I'd rather be in the woods at 70 degrees than be at work! If I'm off, I'm hunting regardless of the temperature. Hunting days are limited.

Hot weather suppresses deer movement. Sub freezing temps kills back the browse and forces the deer to forage more.
But go when you can.
Years ago, I was wearing shorts and a bug tamer suit, and killed a rattler on my way to the lock on. Killed a doe with bow that morning.
Another time, I’d gone to Kansas and climbed up in the lucky cedar tree. It was warm that morning and there was a strong wind out of the south. I rarely saw less than ten deer per sit from that stand. I’d seen one by 9 am. The wind eased up briefly and I did a rattle sequence. Five minutes later, a 150” 11 pt was under my stand. I killed him.
Here at the farm, it was a warm, muggy, and foggy morning. Out of the fog I could make out a wide rack. I couldn’t tell much else in the fog. I shot him. 19” wide.
I’m in a shooting house on the edge of a bean field right now, wearing a t shirt. The weather says go fishing, but the calendar says be on stand to catch the first serious chase of the rut. Or maybe a good one out walking and looking right before dark.
Years ago, I was talking with a friend at the camp house as we drank coffee and prepared for the morning hunt. I was bitching about the heat. He said , “yeah, but when those skeeters bite you, you know you’re alive.” He had survived a commercial airline crash that killed ten or so. I guess it’s all about perspective.

If I like deer hunting, I'd go deer hunting.
I like deer hunting.

Saw a young buck lightly chasing a doe yesterday. Seems like ours is about to get under way too.
Just in time to be full on during Christmas holidays

Killed my biggest ever this morning in this heat.
If it’s rut time they only care about one thing.

It's all fun and games until the huge colony of guinea wasp get to whatever temperature it is that makes them come out from some part of your office chair and start crawling all over you. In your shirt, and up a pants leg. Chances are good they don't have their faculties about them enough to sting you. But you'll do plenty of damage to yourself getting them off anyway. I've seen a well functioning Buddy Heater cause this phenomenon too. ..

Yeah this weather sucks, but I’m on vacation to hunt so I’m gonna be in the woods. They should be rutting where I’m at so I feel like I have a decent chance of seeing a buck. My main concern in the heat is keeping my scent controlled as much as possible. I know I’m gonna sweat walking in, can’t stop that, so what I’ve been doing is wearing a t-shirt to walk in and then changing into a lightweight hunting shirt when I get to my tree.

Not gonna do it. Not that mad at them any longer.

Wear shorts and a light t shirt and go.

I wear a camo tank top and cargo shorts. The temp ain't gonna be what keeps me home.

I can tell you how it’s going as I type. And thermocells don’t do a thing for the asian beetles or wasps.

Killed a buck on Sunday when it was 69-70. His tarsals were dark, saturated, and stunk.
I wore some Wrangler pants that I just bought after reading about them here, a T-shirt, and a long-sleeve camo dri-fit shirt.
I was wearing a vest with no shirt when I killed my first buck in the early 90s because it was so warm. It was December 18.
If its rut time, the bucks will be moving.

I've killed an 8pt in my boxers it was so hot. Time in the stand is what kills deer. Nothing else but time and luck.
