I use parboil when I cook big batches in my 20 gallon pot. I use jasmine for smaller batches.

I'm a regular rice guy. I'll use brown rice for some dishes and will use either Basmati or Jasmine rice other times.

I grew up eating regular long grain rice.

I grew up on long grain.... "true" jambalays cooks say use long grain only, and others say use parboiled....I think it's a preference thing myself, I've used both..... what's been the deal lately with jasemine, I've seen more and more people use it, I never have.....

Couldn’t agree more.

Medium grain guy here. Unless I’m cooking a jambalaya.

I use only Jasmine rice and have been doing so for 5+ years now. I just like the texture and flavor better.

Only people who don’t like rice use parboiled.

I prefer parboiled as it maintains its integrity. Regular rice just turns to mush.

Because you're not cooking it properly

And rinse rice a few time until water runs clear to reduce the sticky starch.

I switched over to Parish Rice, use it for everything now. I have never in my life purchased parboiled rice.

Long grain or Jasmine.
I do like basmati, as well.

Parboiled rice ruins a dish.
Can’t stand the taste.

I eat all kinds but prefer parboiled. Basmatti is really good too. I work across the street from our parboil plant at work. We also store cooked rough for them. It smells really good going down the conveyors. The boiler smells good when they are cooking too. It makes me hungry.
