16 team playoff

Curious if they would consider a 16 team playoff and eliminate the first round bye due to the 4 teams with a bye lost.

I would go back to the BCS formula for the rankings and use that for the seeds.

Tbh I’ll be surprised if they don’t make it 16 teams in 2026. People in charge have no shame and they know as much as people may bitch they’ll still watch.

I would bet a ton on it moving to 16 too. More $$$ and will satisfy the backlash about the byes/seeding.

I don’t even care if they “correct” the seeding criteria. The original problem that caused this mess was the fact that there could be multiple 0 loss power conferences teams, and the champion wasn’t determined on the field. This was solved first with the BCS, and then the 4-team playoff cleaned up the case where there could be three undefeated teams.
That problem has long since been solved. No one ranked 8th or lower should ever claim that they were cheated because they didn’t get a shot at the title. If you’re in that range there is SOMETHING you had control of that you didn’t do right.
