The liberal media and abortion activists claimed that banning abortions would kill women.

Women won’t get health care, they will be turned away when they have a miscarriage, and abortion bans will ultimately kill women. Those where the lies the pro-abortion left told people over and over again about what would happen if states ban abortions after the Dobbs decision overturning Roe. V Wade.

Today, the CDC proved those claims totally false.

The U.S. maternal mortality rate decreased to 18.6 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2023, down from 22.3 in 2022, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A report from the agency’s National Center for Health Statistics, published Wednesday, found that in 2023, 669 women died of maternal causes compared to 817 women who died of the same causes in 2022.

2023 was also the first full year after the Dobbs decision and the first full year for approximately 20 state laws banning abortions to have full effect.

Among white women, the maternal mortality rate dropped from 19 to 14.5 deaths per 100,000 live births between 2022 and 2023 and fell from 16.9 to 12.4 for Hispanic women. The maternal mortality rate dropped slightly for Asian women as well, decreasing from 13.2 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2022 to 10.7, according to the CDC data.

Interestingly, maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black women though rose between those two years from 49.5 per 100,000 live births to 50.3. Black womnen have historically had the highest abortion rates as abortion businesses target poor black women to sell abortions.

This is the second time the CDC has shown maternal mortality rates falling after Dobbs.

Experts confirm that higher maternal mortality is not linked to pro-life laws or abortion bans.

The former director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Julie Louise Gerberding, demonstrated that a comparison between the two statistics is inappropriate. In 2004, she wrote that maternal mortality ratios and abortion mortality rates “are conceptually different and are used by CDC for different public health purposes.”

In fact studies show that childbirth is better for women than abortion. Studies from countries with good data show that a woman is at least three times as likely to die from any cause following abortion than after childbirth.

Dr. Monique Chireau Wubbenhorst, a senior research associate at the DeNicola Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame and a board-certified OB-GYN, told a U.S. House committee that legalized abortion does not help reduce maternal mortality. On the contrary, countries with pro-life laws have some of the lowest maternal mortality rates in the world, she said.

“… until recently in countries where abortion was criminalized and prohibited, I’m thinking particularly of Chile, Ireland and, I think, Cyprus had the lowest rates of maternal mortality in the world. For several years consecutively, Ireland had zero maternal mortality at a time when abortion was completely illegal,” Wubbenhorst said at the time.

Many studies suggest the widespread legalization and availability of elective abortions harm women as well as their unborn babies. In a column at The Federalist in October, Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie, a radiology specialist in Florida, said some researchers have found that abortions are more dangerous than childbirth for mothers.

Pro-life laws save lives: mothers and babies. In Texas alone, a new study by Johns Hopkins found that nearly 10,000 more babies were born after its heartbeat law went into effect in 2021. In the past year since the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, researchers believe tens of thousands more babies also have been saved.

Meanwhile, there have not been any reports of pregnant mothers dying because of pro-life laws. Every abortion ban or restriction includes clear language that protects pregnant mothers as well as their unborn babies. Pro-life laws include exceptions to save the life of the mother and allow miscarriage care.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade will lead to more lives being saved – a fact that abortion activists want Americans to ignore.

Societies that value life have lower rates of death??? Shocking! I am shocked! You can’t see it but my visage clearly reflects shock.

Saw some reports in the past of an increase in breast cancer for those that had abortions.

In 2024, the highest maternal mortality rates were in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana, three states that completely ban abortion

In 2024, the lowest maternal mortality rates were in Vermont, California, and Connecticut, three states that not ban abortion

And how do states compare with comparable demographics? Since you want to cherry pick stats.

Yeah but in Lafayette, Livingston, st Tammany it improved.

Orleans, EBR, Caddo it got worse.

Why are the doctors in New Orleans and Baton Rouge racist? Because that’s the suggestion here if you are a Democrat.

The published reasonings for black women having it bad is access to care and racism. You don’t lack access in New Orleans and BR. So it must be racism.

This was the case prior to abortion bans as well you disingenuous hack. Black women have high maternal mortality rates so states with high proportions of black women will have high rates of maternal mortality.

Honest leftist. Two words that will never be used unironically.

Black women have the highest maternal mortality rates.

Compare the racial demographics of those two sets of states, you’ll have your answer.

You almost have a better chance of seeing Bigfoot in Vermont and Connecticut than you do a pregnant black woman.

You might be retarded. You shouldn’t try to do data analysis ever in your life.

Black women had a 49.5 mortality rate while every other race was under 20. I wonder what TN, MS, and LA have that the other three states don't?

Well, yeah. Vacuuming tissue attached to the mother's tissue probably has some hazards.
