Not sure where Trump gets his stats on public education with the US ranked 40th, the US is ranked 13th in education worldwide by this site. The cost per pupil may be higher than other countries either way that doesn't justify eliminating the DoE, moving it to the state level or auditing & scaling back sure.

I have never met a single person educated by the department of education.
Have you?
Have you?

I don’t understand why we need a federal dept of education. This is not 1850.
Math is math.
Eliminate it. Then let states and cities and counties compete with each other for students. (School vouchers even for private schools)
Win.

Name one aspect of prep education that has improved over the past 40 years.

The entire school model needs to be changed. Not just the Department of Education.
It’s all antiquated.
It’s all antiquated.

Amazing to see victims of doe supporting it. Does Stockholm syndrome extend to government bureaucracies?

What are the critical functions that require a stand-alone entity to perform? Has the department achieved it's stated goals? Has it improved American education?

question for you, troll.
Name ONE SINGLE IMPROVEMENT in US public education since the formation of this department.
Just one.
Should be easy since you can't 'justify eliminating the DoE'. You should be able to tick those WINS off in seconds!

Science and Math, ever heard of STEM? guess not, many schools in the US are way ahead of where they use to be 25 yrs ago. The US is not far behind the Scandinavian countries in overall stats. Trump makes it sound like we are third world in education.

I’ve met a lot of kids that use federal programs to get IEPs or 504s.
Dept of Education needs to be slimmed down, but they do provide some valuable services. I know I rather rely on IDEA than some stupid fricking Tennesseans that would rather give money to really shite charter schools. A lot of our state laws are pretty crap when it comes to kids with disabilities.

Why don't the other top performing, developed countries do that and instead of a Dept of Education?
Competing for students is unhinged
What happens to the low testing students, special ed and students that live far away from schools? Why spend money on buses for them? Those students arent worth much and will be subjected to much lower standards of education, or none at all. Our labor market wants that?

I'm not gonna rewatch all the 35 min Oval Office executive order pressers that he gave this week to find the name of the site, but in one of them, he gave the "40th" stat and mentioned the source of that ranking.

I respectfully disagree. I think the issue is that it has been overly modernized to the point that students are graduating with no ability to function independent of being told what to do or exactly how to do it.
The entire "no child left behind" should have been tossed out in its entirety. It should be - "no child hindered." Too many bright and engaged students have been bored into idiocy because our schools cater to the least capable or the least motivated. We need a more naturally based education system that leaves the sick and dying behind to be eaten by the scavengers rather than forcing the entire group to die of intellectual thirst because a few can't (or won't) keep up.

I can name more than one dipshit, you're just going by what the news keeps feeding you!
The DoE could probably be overhauled but US schools are way ahead in Science and Technology, something you dont know shite about going to podunk high!

If Trump really wants to make America great again he will figure out a way to disband the teachers unions

Horse shite. US education was ranked in high 20's back when I was in my late twenties. That was almost 30 years ago, and the education system and test scores have only gotten worse over time
13th is pure horse shite.
