Enjoyed it, it was beautifully shot. They should have done a choose your narrator like car navigation systems.

Made a thread when it released but didnt seem like many of us watched it.

Our country is a real natural beauty when you get away from all the people

I don't understand the ins and outs of 4K, bandwidth etc., but there's just something different about this. It's the prettiest picture we have seen on our TV.

It really is. The clarity and color of the shots looks like they are using the best cameras ever made.

I caught up on them last night except the latest one on the Gulf South. Can't wait to watch it.

I've been watching and enjoying it as well. The only thing that I find a little annoying is that some of the narration by Tom Hanks is choppy and doesn't flow well, like he's being fed the words to read but he's reading them faster than they appear in front of him.

I can't believe they spent so much of the Gulf Coast episode focusing on the apple snail smh

This was me 20 years ago with the GOAT miniseries IMO: Planet Earth. I had just gotten my first HDTV, a 55" Sony. And I was absolutely blown away with how everything looked and how absolutely gorgeous it was. I legit have it ranked my #1 miniseries of all time (slightly ahead of Band of Brothers)...it was that good for me. And the scenes in The Americas are beautiful as well (and even better now with camera technology obviously).

I do agree with that. Sometimes the narration........just.....................struggles a bit with his........pace..............and annunciation of things.

Same here. Great show, but Hanks' narration at times seems... off.

Should've borrowed Peter Coyote from Ken Burns. His narrations run circles around pretty much anyone else's.

Reminds me of this Benedict Cumberbatch segment:

As bad as Hanks is, he is light years ahead of Will Smith and whatever show he did. David Attenborough wipes the floor w/ both of them. Hanks sounds nasally and whiney.

Noone will admit it but Obama was better on the netflix nature documentary about Our Great National Parks.

Still hate that choice because thats a show everyone should be able to watch and his voice probably made it unwatchable for 40% of americans even if they tried to watch it

He's one of the best orators ever. He's got a great voice and is insanely articulate.

My problem with him narrating isn't political, it's that I couldn't stop hearing Obama and I think it took away from the series. Same with Hanks. Voices are too familiar and we associate them with other things. Attenborough was perfect though, I just really know his voice from nature stuff.

A no name person with an elite narration voice would ideally be best, but that doesn't drive interest as much.
