Talking about the original. It’s a great animated movie, one of my favorites, freaking love it. This is an all time great movie song too

I’ll make a man out of you

One big problem though. The Huns never invaded China, they invaded West for sure but never China. Lots of nomadic groups invaded China, the Xiongnu, Mongols, Manchus etc… but not the Huns.

Why did they make the Huns the bad guys instead of a group that actually invaded China?

Easy, none of those rhyme with sons.

There is a theory that the Huns and the Xiongnu were one and the same. It is not a widely accepted theory.

I mean, I guess all of those groups came from the Asian steppe so they probably are at least related

Probably because most Americans would have heard of the Huns and they aren't around to be offended about their portrayal.

I think in this instance “Huns” is used a blanket term for any nomadic groups/invaders. For the purpose of a children’s movie and the rhyming for songs it’s easier to call refer to them as huns than the Xiongnu. Huns just rolls off the tongue easier

I was always miffed that they spent an entire movie building up a huge scale, likely multi-year war between two giant armies and the whole thing ended with like a 15 second avalanche caused by fireworks.

For what it's worth, a tiny dragon that talks and sounded like Eddie Murphy never existed either.

Most Americans don’t know the distinction.

It rhymes.

We called Germans “Huns” in WWI for the sake of propaganda.

This is as good a place as any for this…

Why the F did they completely screw up Mulan’s character in the live action version? The entire point of her journey and character is that she did it with her own courage and cunning, not some force/midichlorian crap. Who in the writer’s room couldn’t figure this out?

Reading your post, a Tatar may be offended by you leaving our name out your post about groups who wreaked havoc on the neighboring Chinese civilization, raping, pillaging, raping and resettling them.

Only an ignoramus would think that there is a theory? I don't believe such a theory, but you have your own Google machine that will tell you some people do. Those people might be ignoramuses. I'm sure you'll feel comfortable pretending to be a scholar of central Asian history and set them straight.
