President Donald Trump said the administration is considering a rebate for some consumers from revenue raised by higher tariffs on U.S. trade partners.

When asked by a reporter on Friday at the White House about a possible rebate for Americans from tariff revenue, Trump said: “We’re thinking about that. We have so much money coming in, we’re thinking about a little rebate.”

“The big thing we want to do is pay down debt,” Trump said. “But we’re thinking about a rebate.”

“A little rebate for people of a certain income level might be very nice,” he said.

It’s unclear whether a rebate could happen without Congressional approval. If enacted, it’s unknown whether the rebate would come via stimulus checks or another form of tax relief, experts say.

Really hope we use it to pay down debt.

He's going to rebate the tariffs the consumer paid?

That's seems slightly bureaucratic.

Sounds like the doge rebate...

I think if they returned all that doge money it was like 0.0003 cents per citizen after it was all said and done.

You know after paying the millions that the doge department now spends on salaries and other stuff

If they only gave it to American's who actually paid federal income tax, it was something like 900 bucks per.

They are already going to have to rebate the bulk of the tariffs after they get tilled to be unconstitutional

Pay down the debt? We still have a fricking deficit. If he actually goes through with this, it’s “please like me again” populism at its most base.

Interest rates need to come down. Paying down debt will help with this.

Nobody should be getting a rebate check. We are fricking broke. The thought of this is beyond stupid.
