I Holy Groove
It’s a 30 something minute blues jam. Several songs. The guy is amazing. He takes the Psalms from the Bible and turns them in not the deepest blues of joy I’ve ever heard. It’s so unexpected and equally impressive. If you love the blues, and you love Jesus- this is your jam.

To each his own, my brother. It’s a big tent. The biggest.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

I’m not much for old hymns.. maybe amazing grace/come thou fount and this one, blessed assurance .

This song takes me back to one of the most inspiring moments of my life .

2007. I was an incoming freshmen in college. My youth group had gone to Zimbabwe for a 2 week mission trip, we were way out in the bush and had found a church. They of course were singing in Shona, their language and we picked up on the music and joined in our English and it was such a beautiful moment

In that moment, more than any other in my life, it felt like we’re truly connected as a people thousands of miles apart and different cultures and lifestyles. We didn’t look like anyone else in the church but we were praising God in our respective languages.

That is a truly amazing experience. Jesus Christ is the only person who can unite us all.

Is Christian music the only genre that is categorized by lyrics?

Because there really is no such thing as Christian “music”

Gospel music comes to mind.

There is a ton of Christian based music within the bluegrass genre.

Yes, based on the lyrics, not the music.

And regarding gospel, if I sing a gospel song about getting drunk and picking up chicks, is it a Christian song then?

No. That’s why lyrics shouldn’t define the genre.

Hence, there is no such thing as Christian music, just regular music with Christian lyrics.

But there isn't any gospel music about getting drunk and picking up women, because no one would listen to it. So, the particular sound of gospel music, apart from the words, defines a genre of music.

There's also a certain sound to contemporary praise music. Some of it trends a bit towards pop, and some of it trends a bit towards country, but contemporary praise music clearly has its own sound.

But the OP is about a Christian blues band. It’s blues music with Christian lyrics.

I’m not a huge fan of modern contemporary Christian music but did grow up in the Church and still know my way through the old hymnals. That’s just how I like to hear it.

This is a beautiful version by the Red Clay Strays from Mobile. This makes my playlist 9x outta 10 just because iof how well they pulled it off.

That's good stuff. I love finding blues and old school country style Christian songs. I'll play that again for sure.

Check out Tami Neilson. She's an Australian country artist who focuses on that oldschool country sound. She's not strictly Christian themed music, but she has quite a few songs though.

This cover of Willie's "I Thought About You" is fantastic

Here's an original of hers. This song brings the blues to Christianity. Great song.
