What will happen if people are called any kind of ‘-ist’ or ‘-phobe’, and they just don’t care anymore?
The power of those words completely underpin political correctness. Without them, the entire house of cards falls down.
Maybe that is a big part of Progressives’ anxiety right now. They NEED a way to shut people down during debate.

I never cared what I was called. My only concern was having the crazies dig up the name of my employer and threaten my livelihood.

It's already starting to happen. The political class and the entertainment class haven't quite gotten the message yet, but they are starting to.
These things don't happen quickly so we won't get to 80s/90s levels of DGAF for another 5-10 years.

After the 2016 GE the rules were challenged, after the 2020 GE the rules were abolished.
