What happened when German nurses became POWs

Pretty cool video on what happened when the Allies captured German medical staff, including nurses and doctors.
They brought them all over to the USA and well, put them to work treating German and American patients. They gave them training, training considered the norm here but advanced or unheard of in Germany. They were taught medicine based on scientific method instead of ideology. They received classes on ethics. They actually worked under the supervision of Negro nurses.
Very clever. By the time they went back home, they had been converted. The German medical profession was in total ruin. They are the ones who rebuilt it as they copied what they learned in America.

Hopefully they weren't under the supervision of Georgia nurses

There’s always a way out for the women.

Well, the D.A. was pumping my left hand
She was holding my right
Well, I told her, don't get scared 'Cause you're gonna be spared
I've gotta be forgiven if I wanna spend my living
With a long cool woman in a black dress

Some POWs and refugees were brought to our farm as labor.
Imagine going from Germany to a sugar cane field in south La.

They did rice on my grandpa's farm.
When the war ended, they were gone to see America.

They were stunned at the sight of so much sugar.
Just the meals alone they got at POWs was more than a meal their families were eating.

I've been on a run lately of watching videos on that channel. The AI voice gets a little wonky every now and then, but a great way to kill time while discing and tilling food plots. The whole series on German POWs in America was very interesting and just shows you how powerful the United States was in WW2.

They became spoils of war, just like all the other Germans we captured. And many of the women became war brides. The victorious men takes the enemy's women. A tale as old as human history. We just gussied it up.

We paid pows the same rate as our soldiers. They went back home with more money than had they not been captured.

That YouTube channel has many good stories.
Interesting to hear about wars from multiple perspectives.

Hell, one video tells how the POWs were sending food to their starving families back home through Red Cross.
Very clever to allow them to do that.
