Love that man, he brought a winning culture to LSU as a coach and then as an AD.

The man is a national treasure! Probably could have been a successful comedian.

That's some funny shite. "I'm a legend. You can't throw me out." The ensuing sound was like something from Wolf on Wall Street!

Me and my 17 yr old son met him at the TN game on Saturday this past year. We were last in line at his book signing. He was very gracious and kind. He made a point to talk to my son for a few moments. My son had goosebumps talking to him. Something he will never forget.

His former players all say that in his team reunions, players & former coaches only, a lot of his jokes & commentary are X rated .As were his trips to the mound.

My first LSU baseball game (RIP The Box) a junior high me learned all kinds of new colorful words that I didn’t know a grown man could use. To paraphrase A Christmas Story some men paint, others sculpt. [Skip Berman]’s art was profanity.

Still love what he brought to Baton Rouge.

Great post.

I drove down from Dallas to New Orleans one year for New Years in the early 90s with some Texas friends. We spent 1 night in Baton Rouge and I drove them around campus. The old Box was open for a Holiday camp, and after viewing the field we walked back to the car.

We passed Skip, who was walking in, and said hello. Skip spent the next 10-15 minutes asking us about ourselves and our futures, not to make small talk, but make sure we each had a plan. My friends and I still talk about that encounter.

What a great man!

Was hoped he'd tell my all time favorite quote. A pitcher was getting beat up pretty good and he went to the mound to take him out. Pitcher said:
"coach, I'm sorry" .. Skip says "It's not your fault.. It's all my fault .. I never should have recruited you."
