I hope Mamdani is able to do everything he wants in NYC.
So we can watch for the 10,000 time as socialism/communism ends in complete disaster. But they will undoubtedly tell us, it wasn't "real" socialism.

Another premise of collectivism was EVERYONE works. IE, the USSR doesn't send welfare checks to working age people who refuse to work. I watched a great debate 'Communism vs. Capitalism' in the 1970s. It was before a crowd of students at Moscow's biggest college and the 2 most devestating arguments went like this:
US asks USSR: 'If communism is so great why do you build a wall in Germany to keep your people from escaping to capitalism?' The Russians had no answer.
USSR asks US: 'Is it true that your welfare system pays able bodied people to not work?' US answers: 'Well, yes." The Russian crowd hooted with laughter at the stupidity of that policy.
US asks USSR: 'If communism is so great why do you build a wall in Germany to keep your people from escaping to capitalism?' The Russians had no answer.
USSR asks US: 'Is it true that your welfare system pays able bodied people to not work?' US answers: 'Well, yes." The Russian crowd hooted with laughter at the stupidity of that policy.

I recognize that when this is "over" we collectively (pun intended) are going to need to pay for it.

In a communist system you have to keep the producers from leaving and the freeloaders from coming in. Otherwise the whole thing collapses.

Oh and more. I'm hoping for 35 dollar minimum wage at least, city funded grocery stores with no penalties for the "underprivileged" to shoplift, Free public everything, the NYPD to basically become a rideshare program for the needy, no bail, no imprisonment, social workers for all disputes, massive massive massive tax increases, the whole works.
