Charissa Thompson says, “and another thing we learned is coaching matters. You need good coaching to win”.
Really? We just learned that?

If you listen close enough, all of these announcers/analysts regurgitate the same cliche and obvious sayings just in different tones. It’s very, very rare you actually get insightful commentary. Romo was the last real one to shake it up a bit but even he has become a caricature of himself.

The older you get it becomes apparent that life is on rewind

Pregame and post game stuff is pretty bad everywhere. 24 hour NFL creates stupid takes.
See Ryan Clark who actually played for years.
Hot takes
1. Coaching matters. See Sam Darnold after his time as the 59ers vs before.
2. QB has to be good to win.
3. GMs making the right picks and trades. See Seattle for a while with Schnider (sp?)and now Jacksonville in just 1 year.
4. Dline matters. If you dont have a pass rush you are screwed. See 49ers without Bosa or the Eagles and Texans with that talent just neutralizes everything. Hell the Brown only win anything because of the dline.

CBS neutered him because the casuals were complaining that he was being too “nuanced” which i always thought was stupid. Thats why to me Orlosky and Riddick was a breath of fresh air yesterday. Break shite down, give me the technical side of the what happened. Don’t dumb shite down because then it becomes a bag of cliches

There is a clear point of diminishing returns on Elite edge rushers, Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby are Top but both teams are putrid. Dropping massive cash on an elite edge rusher imo is wasting money.

If you want insight on a particular team find the people who cover that team locally. Most of the people who specialize in national sports talk are idiots. I was listening to someone on that Bet MGM show who claimed the Rams don't have anything to play for today. Right, there is no difference in a Southern Californian team going on the road to play against Tampa Bay or Carolina or going on the road to play the Bears or the Eagles. Same guy claimed the Chiefs don't care about their draft position. I'm sure that has nothing to do with them putting most of their offensive line starters and Trent McDuffie all go on IR the moment they were eliminated from the playoffs.

Winning the turnover battle
Make sure you run downhill, north and south
Special teams will play an important part in today's game

Pre game shows are mostly unnecessary these days, especially multi hour ones. Every angle has already been covered in other media by the time they go live…so all you really have is the human interest pieces
