I’m talking strictly high school recruiting …and kids that we had a legitimate shot at …I would say Patrick Surtain II

Pat surtain stung a little.

He was lsu for years and then last minute flipped. And he actually panned out and wasn’t a bust

I wouldn't say miss as much as I wanted. Collin Simmons.

Nobody cares about recruiting anymore. We landed the #1 EDGE for next year and it wasn't even more than a page...

Did we ever have a shot at Cam Robinson?

2003tigerfan has to be up there in the top 5 biggest misses. Nick Saban would’ve definitely beat Florida in 03 and went undefeated had he got that guy.

It’s like that saying you never know you’re in the good times or whatever man I enjoyed covering high school recruiting but brother it is dead in the water now

At the moment in time he was being recruited, Dylan Moses was up there.
Little traitor was on LSU’s campus at U-high and recruited since he was in grade school…

Fortunately, he turned out to not be all-galaxy like he was touted up to be

Warrick Dunn would be on the list

He went to the better school at that time. LSU was a mess in 1993 and Florida State was entering their greatest decade ever.

There are countless great Louisiana players who didn't end up going to LSU because they were overlooked or recruited more effectively by other schools

There were occasionally great players who allegedly didn't qualify academically. Terry Bradshaw was famously insulted as being too dumb to spell the word cat.

before the portal, you recruited a kid and he likely stayed at your school for 3-4 seasons...now, that isn't the case...that has affected fan enthusiasm

Gotta be Joe McKnight. Were we supposed to be in on Brock Berlin when he was at Evangel? He would be up there too

Not sure about the biggest in history, but the loss of Hootie Jones to Bama in 2014 was viewed as terrible, but the Tigers landed Jamal Adams.
