Does anyone know the actual unemployment rate in LA currently? I was laid off in December for the second time in a year and a half.

Just wondering if anyone has an idea, as it's really tough out there.

Max $285 per week

Louisiana currently limits benefits to a maximum of 12 weeks because the state's average unemployment rate remains below 5%....currently at 4.4%

5 verifiable work searches per week.

Another words....not much

What industry? Also, sorry you got laid off.

ETA: revenue streams have changed significantly since 2025. I’ve been planning for a very conservative 2026.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics as of 9/30/2025 Louisiana's official unemployment rate was 4.4%, the same as the U.S. national average at that date.

EDIT: 4.4% put Louisiana tied for 36th out of the 50 states along with Illinois and South Carolina.

The true number should be the workforce participation rate.

That relative low number hides or doesn’t account for those that have quit looking, are house spouses, disabled, retired (full or partially), or people who live off the government cheese. If all those were added in the unemployment rate may be 20-25% or higher.

Management, specifically call center-- with a sales component, sales were down, so I was booted out. It is in an industry that is being hit with low/slow sales, tied to home sales.

I am slowly getting myself out of sales because the industry I can work in here has been hit hard.
