Kirby has it made at UGA. Does he want to coach pro ball?

With the new college football, he already is coaching a form of pro football. The real question is if the Falcons want to drop $15mil a year to get him. I doubt he'd leave for a pay cut.

Pay cut? Kirby makes $13.2M annually with a potential $1.5M in bonuses

Yes, so that would mean Atlanta would need to pay him $15mil or more to get him to leave UGA. I doubt the Falcons would be willing to pay what it would take to get him.

That would piss off most of their fan base. It would be like the Saints poaching LSU’s coach.

Did you forget that Kirby has $100M buyout at Georgia?

The Falcons aren’t going to give a contract with anywhere close to that type of buyout to a coach with no NFL experience

Chargers are paying Harbaugh $16m, so it wouldn’t be out the question for Kirby to get $15m

100M buyout

Why can people not understand that’s not how buyouts work? That 100M is of UGA were to fire him. If he were to leave on his own, it’s a 5M buyout

He does, but for whatever reason, he has never been willing to pay top dollar for a coach.

Thats my point. He’s got a huge amount of job security at UGA between his history of success there and the $100M buyout if he were to get fired.

If he goes to the NFL, he’s starting fresh. He’ll be on the hotseat in 3 years if he hasn’t made the playoffs and won’t have $100M buyout.
