Im still mourning the rebrand

I just happened to catch highlights of OKC / Charlotte at the pub and omg the drip is immaculate.
We literally went from first to worst with this rebrand smh

Pelicans was the dumbest decision ever along with the main colors.
It’s why every Mardi Gras or Skelican jersey is celebrated and sold out.
With all the culture and coolness of this city and they choose a bird and plain colors?????

Honestly it will probably be looked out for the rest of time as the shittiest rebrand in the history of American sports. I miss the honeybees... I miss "BEEE-FENCE!" The Hornets court design is stunning. Every time I see it on TV I'm like "motherfricker..."
Overall though I mostly miss the playoffs. Maybe if we haven't been complete arse the entire Pels tenure, it may be different.
One thing I know though. If we don't turn things around soon, the next rebrand will be 2500 miles away and in Green and Gold.

I really think the hate on the "Pelicans" moniker highlights that NOLA follk view themselves as apart from Louisiana rather that a part of it. Its the state bird. Its probably a top 3 Louisiana imagery. Its on the flag.
I like the Pelicans name (probably like B/B-) because i think it will age well and never seem like a product of a time (Timberwolves). Its essentially the Milwaukee Bucks of the south. Simple, plain, timeless, if not boring. Fine.
Krewe would have been cool but i wonder if the NBA would have let us do that as the branding would have 100% just been old Jazz with new name. Perhaps that nixed that quietly.
Thing about sticking with the Hornets is that, on one hand i kind of like when you have bizarre team/city combos becuase of relocations. Its quirky and historical. On the other hand, if there is one city it doesnt work in, its Nola. Its too....themematic.

it's the boring arse red or navy or white jersey. They just look boring and crappy. I'd like to never see those jerseys worn again.
I'd rather if they just rebranded to the Skelican purple and neon green colors. And i want that last one with the pelican logo on the front but with the eyes more pronounced in red.

I wanted the Voodoo. It would have printed money. Have the tall slender man as the mascot, with dark performances at halftime.
Would have fit the city like a glove.
Instead we got a minor league baseball team name with a goofy bird with the most generic colors.

NOLA's two franchises should be the Saints and the Sinners. Sinners have a red, black and gold color scheme.
Second choice would have been to adopt the Voodoo name colors and logo, which is an easy top 10 logo of all time.
Pelicans name is fine and safe. But we never should have been a red and blue team. That's too generic and NOLA is not generic. Everytime another color gets on our jerseys we love it, whether its the dark purple, neon green etc. I'm not sure you can move to black, purple and neon green and keep the Pelican name and logo. They got to do something though

I agree with all of this.
Crazy that TB came up with the Voodoo brand and concept yet was boxed out of using it by some two bit grifter who bought the failing AFL franchise for pennies on the dollar. It would have been so great as an NBA name.

No matter what the rebrand was, it was never going to be an upgrade on the Jazz. But agree, a bird was such a letdown.
