Trump says U.S. may have to pay oil companies to work in Venezuela

President Donald Trump said the US could reimburse American oil companies for expanding their operations in Venezuela.
"A tremendous amount of money will have to be spent, and the oil companies will spend it, and then they'll get reimbursed by us or through revenue," Trump told NBC News in an interview on Monday.
Trump declined to share his estimate of the cost for companies to repair or expand the South American country's deteriorating oil infrastructure.

You are either retarded or you cannot read. You posted a quote that contradicts your headline.

How about Trump stop working with the Saudis to promote month over month increases in OPEC production? That would allow US oil and gas companies to resume drilling and production here and make enough money to expand in other areas.
Or we could shovel billions of dollars directly into for profit oil and gas companies so they can pay dividends, bonuses and stock buy-backs.

With the low price of oil and the uncertainty of Venezuela's future, Venezuela would be a bad investment for oil companies.
It's starting to sound like this is just another boondoggle for billionaires like Operation Warpspeed. The people of the United States will foot the bill while the private corporations will keep the profits.

It should be "only through revenue." Any company generating billions in net profits per quarter has no need of federal financial aid.

This is going to be sold on the same lie about Iraq: "Taxpayers won't have to pay anything because of the tremendous revenues that will be realized."
How did that work out?

It has been increasing through 2025 but it's still well below the historical High. Your claim has no merit and no basis in fact it is just an emotional tantrum riddled with TDS

Exactly. Biggest oil reserves in the world and the oil companies are hesitant.

I imagine it’s going to cost a pretty penny just to get the infrastructure back to what it was 20 years ago.

But then how will the government take their cut for distributing our money to the oil companies?

This is inching closer and closer to nation-building on the backs of the US taxpayer.

What happened to climate change?

Yeah, but it's Trump doing the nation building. That's different.

You obviously have no clue what you’re saying cause that might be the dumbest thing you’ve ever said on here. Low oil price doesn’t make it a bad investment. At all. The price is irrelevant here. There’s an abundance of oil with easier extraction than most places all it needs is a non Marxist government that will get out of the way.
I could go on about the price not being ANYWHERE NEAR too low to be a bad investment but you wouldn’t understand

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think Venezuela is in nearly the nation building mode yet. They still have Chavanistas throughout their government. And it doesn't look like they want us involved.

Sorry, but you have no clue what you are talking about. A few minutes of objective research would reveal to you what is objectively true. At Davos, Trump requested that the Saudis and OPEC increase production to drive the world market price of oil down so that he could deliver cheaper gasoline to the US consumer. They resisted for several months but began the requested increases in the late spring. The result has been month over month increases in production, with falling world oil prices. The secondary result is that US oil production companies are retracting dramatically as the price of oil drops into the $50s. New drilling and production here has dramatically slowed and will continue to slow. There are huge layoffs going on right now in America.
If you can’t see it, you live in an alternative reality, one which is fed to you by propagandists. The real world is right in front of you and you can see it without any propaganda filter.
