No because the McMen will want to hire the interim the first time they win a game.

No, let him coach until February at least no matter what. You don’t want some interim guy getting hot and making fans think he’s the answer.

Earlier post…..

I didn’t see anyone advocating to fire McMahon with a 12-2 record.

12-2 and all you thinking about is firing a guy.

Season might go down the toilet if Thomas is out for several weeks. Reed being lost was already a huge blow. Sucks, because they were decent this year and the SEC is down overall.

Would I be ok with it? I guess I'd have to because I have no choice in the matter.

Does it do much for this season and the future of the program relative to just making a change at the end of the season? Probably not.

I don't see David Patrick leading LSU on some tear as HC. And I don't think a firing in January gives LSU any sort of great "head start" in trying to identify and hire a new HC. The "identification" analysis can be happening now and agents of potential HC targets are aware of the market. They know which power conf. teams are likely to be making coaching changes at the end of the season and will be making contact with the administrators of those schools during the season.

For example, Wade talked about telling his agent after he and VCU thumped LSU in November of Jones' last season that the LSU job would likely be available at the end of the year and to keep an eye on it.

McMahon hasn't won. But he hasn't been a jerk either. You give him the dignity of finishing out the season with his team. The only guys who have been (fully) fired midseason were two horse's asses (Brady and Kelly) who the admin didn't feel bad about dumping midseason.

No, there’s really no point at this juncture. I’m not sure Patrick would be able to rally enough to substantially turn things around. Let it play out and if the tournament is missed, can him as soon as the season is over. I hate interim situations for the potential emotional responses that it generates.

That being said, we’re not losing tonight.

Now, later. Just so long as he’s gone end of season I’m good.

If he loses tonight, he’s done. Whether it happens in February or end of the season is irrelevant.

ETA. it’s early, they can certainly still win this game.

We agreed earlier. No excuses for losing at home as a 7.5 point favorite.
