Elon QB Landen Clark: Elon transfer Landen Clark is wrapping up his visit to LSU today on Sunday and multiple sources continue to indicate that Lane Kiffin and the Tigers are the team to beat.
I joined Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos with On3 RPM picks for LSU.
LSU was the first program to show interest in Clark who in his first season as the starter this fall, the red-shirt freshman threw for 2,321 yards and 18 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. He added 614 rushing yards and 11 more touchdowns on the ground.
I won’t be surprised if he’s the first LSU QB portal domino to drop.
***** Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt: On3’s No. 1 ranked Transfer Portal player Sam Leavitt is already back in Arizona following his visit to Miami, sources tell On3. He didn’t sign with the Canes while on his visit - which means the window remains open for LSU here…
The Arizona State transfer took trips to Kentucky, Tennessee, LSU and Miami. Kiffin and the Tigers made headlines Friday when they flew and saw him in Knoxville between trips to Tennessee and Miami. Now, conversations continue with LSU into Sunday afternoon, I’m told.
Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos reported today that LSU is “doing all they can, including a steep NIL offer to land Leavitt” and “the opportunity to play quarterback for Kiffin in his offense make it enticing”.
One source felt LSU had a “50-50” shot at pulling this off - which is a higher level of confidence than when he left LSU’s campus in the midst of news breaking of Washington quarterback Demond Williams planning to transfer and LSU being the team to beat. Williams ultimately reversed course and stayed at UW after signing a new deal with the Huskies a week earlier. Since then, as evidenced by LSU flying to see him in between UT and Miami, Kiffin and the Tigers have had to make up some ground.
***** USC QB Husan Longstreet: The Tigers currently have USC transfer quarterback Husan Longstreet on campus. He arrived Saturday night. “LSU is working to make him feel at home and comfortable with the idea of being a Tiger,” Wiltfong, who covered Longstreet closely out of high school, said on Sunday. The former 5-star has no timetable for an immediate decision, but depending on how things shake out with Leavitt, the LSU press could turn up even more - and in a hurry.
Longstreet is currently at the PMAC for the LSU Women’s Basketball game against No. 2 Texas.
My two cents: LSU will sign Elon transfer QB Landen Clark … then land Leavitt or Longstreet. With Leavitt in decision mode and Longstreet currently on LSU’s campus, we should know more in the next 24 hours.

If you pay for it and then share it with everybody else then that is going to kill his business and everybody's got to make a living.

No
what freshman or sophomore QBs have won anything of note in the College Football playoff era?
mature, senior battle tested QBs is the path to success.
This year Beck vs Mendoza
last year Will Howard, transfer, senior
JJ McCarthy, only a jr but three year starter
Stetson Bennett super super super senior
Mac Jones four year senior
Joe Burrow for us

McCarthy was only a junior, but he had very little to do for the Michigan offense. Game manager all season long.

Next year would be an experience year for Longstreet. it’s obvious that Sam is the number one target. But it’s not exactly a bad play to go with a five star top 10 young quarterback, continue to build the team around him, and compete in 2027. With a possibility of doing some great things next year.

ah shite you’re right. still as a junior he started for three years
the path is to invest in a battle tested player if possible. Longstreet could be good but everyone would need patience, which no one has in the NIL era.
