Will be in DC for four nights in May. Looking for restaurant recs. Not so much breakfast. Just lunch and dinner.
As of now on the list (but not sure if actually good) I have:
Old Ebbit grill
Hank's oyster bar
Municipal Fish Market
Founding Farmers Fishers and Bakers
Martin's Tavern
Joe's Stone Crab
Filomena
Will mostly be downtown. Plan on going to Arlington one day. Idk if any of those spots work with Arlington.
What are your recommendations?

Old Town Alexandria has more of a dining scene than Arlington. Near the Torpedo Factory are several good seafood places, the Wharf being one. Chadwichs is a long-time Georgetown favorite that moved to Old Town. The passenger ferry between the DC harbor area and Old Town is more fun that the Metro.
If you can avoid rush hour and are by yourself, eat the daily seafood specialty at the bar of Old Ebbit Grill. To me that is quintessential DC.

The Quarterdeck is a popular restaurant in Arlington. It is about a block away from the cemetery.
I like a small Italian place called Tortino. It is in the downtown area.
For lunch, the restaurant inside the Museum of the American Indian is really good.

I enjoyed Kyojin Sushi (Georgetown) and Fig and Olive. Might check those out.

On your list, Filomena is the best.
Old Ebbit is more touristy than actually good.
Hanks is ok and outrageously priced.
Founding farmers is good. The DC location is better than Tyson’s VA, but not as good as Rockville, MD.
I haven’t been to the others
For recommendations, there are a few places in Alexandria that are good (French and Italian) but avoid The Majestic
Arlington restaurant scene is overrated, though I’ve always enjoyed Lyon Hall.
Out toward Great Falls is a French restaurant called L’Auberge chez Francois, which is really good if you want fine dining.

Filomena rocks. It’s not like some culinary revelation. Just damn good Italian food in a really fun setting.
Joe’s is good too. Beautiful restaurant. Food in DC was better than the original in Miami, IMO.
We did the weekend brunch at Founding Farmers and it was excellent.
I can’t remember where else we ate, but not any of the others you listed.

My favorite German restaurant that I've ever eaten is on Wisconsin Ave, just north of Georgetown. It's called Old Europe and is outstanding!

Not exactly an iconic experience in gastronomy; but, consider hitting up the original Ben’s Chili Bowl location.
It’s a DC establishment dating back to the 60’s. A hole in the wall admittedly; but, it has a lot of history with the civil rights movement and some famous historical figures including some former Presidents have ate there. It picked up a James Beard Award for being considered an American Classic eatery many years ago.
They have a few locations now including the airport; but, if you want a take in some history hit the original spot.

I'll take any opportunity I can to plug Rasika in DC. Phenomenal Indian food.

I’ve never been to Rasika but the Bombay Club is also great Indian food.

Rasika is a great rec.
DC has become a real foodie town now. There are incredible restaurants everywhere.
If you can snag reservations at Moon Rabbit, give it a try. Viatnamese chef from New Orleans. It's legit.

Lincoln's Waffle Shop was a cool little diner for lunch.

Fiola Mare - G'town Harbor
Susheria - G'town Waterfront
The Prime Rib - K Street
Teddy and the Bully - south of Dupont Circle
My go-to list when I was in the NCR a lot. Can't go wrong with any of these.

Concerning any comments on Old Ebbits.
The oysters are fantastic and it’s a really cool bar/restaurant.
Will it be the best place you eat, in DC? Maybe, maybe not.
But, it’s a must. Like Pat O’s first time to French Quarter. Geaux Tigers
