He did learn to recruit from Ed O early in his career. For all his faults, this is absolutely a move Ed O would have pulled.

I mean Coach O, when he was at USC, tried to get Adrian Peterson's incarcerated dad to move jails so he could watch Adrian. I think Coach O could have pulled off flying to an airport in another city

That’s the kind of stuff Saban did. He’d win a natty one night then the following night he’d be in his rivals backyard recruiting the next 5 star to come and be his third stringer on the next year’s roster.

He's the polar opposite to BK. Grinding on teens day 1 in recruiting for BK was cringe. Then beyond that he couldn't tell you the name of the recruit or give them the time of day. Lane eat, sleeps, and just lives football. If it takes going to snag a recruit on someone else's campus he will do it. Might seem cringe but at least he's not the lazy arse the last coach was.
