They're going to build one of those damn things within about 1/3 of a mile from my backyard and I'm not happy about it at all. Unfortunately I can't do a damn thing about it either

We're looking at a new 12.7% rate hike where I am... after an 11.4% hike recently.

Meta and Entergy are laughing their collective asses off.

Be kind of cool if the data centers were to install those compartmentalized nuclear power plants, but yet still be connected to the grid. Could sell or have power available in an emergency. Otherwise the plant would power the data center primarily.
I suspect management of the power flow might be a real headache however. Texas could probably pull it of as we have ERCOT already established that deals with multiple energy sources.

He says and plans a lot of things.
Did you know about his plan to use our bodies to mine crytocurrency? Is this partly the reason for these 1-2 million sqft data monstrosities they are building across the nation?

What about the millions of gallons of water they use? The one they plan on building not far from us will initially use 1 million upon startup and then again refill annually. What does that do to the water tables and aquafiers and our water bills?

Well, that’s not what he actually said, so there’s that.
I swear, I can’t tell anymore who here really can’t understand nuance and which are just trolling.

yep, for all the optimism these data centers supposedly offer, I'll bet it turns to despair once the utility companies start passing on the cost of operation to the consumers. Trump is as delusional as the sunshine pumpers if he thinks Meta or Google is gonna eat the electricity costs for these massive drains on power.

I have seen videos of people living near them now and they say there is a constant humming sound coming from them

That's basically what he said, bro. Stop it.

Constant humming and lower water pressure and some say dirty water is coming out of their taps.

Yeah that's one of my concerns because I've heard that to. I'm also worried about what it will do to the property value, I don't know for sure but it's hard to imagine it will be positive

No, it’s not.
He said it is an issue, but the left has to stop making it the only issue.
CNN
FFS, can you people not deal in anything but absolutes?
quote:
“Climate change, disease, and poverty are all major problems,” Gates wrote. “We should deal with them in proportion to the suffering they cause.”
The Trump administration’s funding cuts, Gates argues, necessitate an immediate and larger focus on investment and resources to support those abandoned efforts.
“Although climate change will have serious consequences – particularly for people in the poorest countries – it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” Gates wrote. “This is a chance to refocus on the metric that should count even more than emissions and temperature change: improving lives. Our chief goal should be to prevent suffering, particularly for those in the toughest conditions who live in the world’s poorest countries.”
