Player under contract
7th season - Juwan Johnson - 29yo - $13.2M(2026), $13.6M(2027), UFA(2028)
2nd season - Moliki Matavao - 23yo - $1.0(2026) ERFA(2027)
3rd season - Treyton Welch - 25yo - $1.0M(2026), $1.2M(2027), RFA(2028)
ERFA
5th season - Zaire Mitchell-Paden - 26yo - ERFA(2026)
UFA's
8th season - Foster Moreau - 29yo - $1.4M(2026), $700K(2028)
10th season - Taysom Hill - 35yo - $13.8M(2026), $6.0M(2028)
6th season - Jack Stoll - 28yo - UFA(2026)
ETA: ERFA, Number of seasons is how long they have been out of college not necessarily how many NFL seasons. [Zaire Mitchell-Paden s in his 5th season out of college but has only 1 year of NFL experience]
The Saints still owe Hill a lot of money but IMO that should move on from both. Sounds like Hill will make the decision for the team by retiring which may help in spreading that money out over the next 5 years like Brees and Ram did.
Johnson is coming off of a career year in all categories except TD receptions.
I would have though Welsh would have gotten more regular season time after his impressive preseason but there may have been an injury I am forgetting about.
We need to add a FA and probably a draft pick

Definitely needs a lift. I'm very confident we will get a very good TE in the FA market. We need a compliment to JJ. And confident we pick one in draft like a Stowers.

Stowers or Royer would be awesome.

Huge stowers fan. Think he has the highest upside of any tight end in the draft. Not sure i care to get one in free agency. Think money can be better spent elsewhere.

we desperately need a TE that excels in blocking

We desperately need one that can block and catch at a high level. I don't think we've had that since Jeremy Shockey.

i just hope he last until the 3rd. We may need to make a trade.

We sure don't have one if our token LSU TE doesn't play.

I think there area a few intriguing FA's the Saints should and probably are keeping and eye on.
David Njoku - Browns
Isaiah Likely - Ravens
Dallas Goedert’s - Eagles
Depending on how much you want to spend

With Welch and Johnson looking like our best of the bunch TE blockers I wonder if that's a trait CKM doesn't look for. When he traded back into the 7th for Montavao it wasn't because of his weak blocking.

Goedert would be an interesting addition. Moore obviously has worked with him in the past and he is a good blocker who had a pretty good year receiving. He can disappear at times and isn’t an elite athlete, but he’d be a good target at the right price.

Could work. Need a TE that knows how to fill in for JJ if needed. I think we also pick up 2 or more in the draft and UDFA's.

If the Saints go TE in the draft... I like Max Klare from Ohio State.. All the measurables but needs some coaching on blocking... Possibly 3rd but 2nd might be a reach for us....

Cade Otten is another FA that I wanted to list here but he seems to be really inconsistent catching the ball. and IMO, a reliable check down TE would be of great value to Shough.
Jack Stoll is another UFA that the Saints could resign. he was your blocking TE but you're not going to get much more out of him.

Looking at Moore's offenses, his teams have done best when he's had 2 TE that split the load but none that really takes to lion share like JJ did this season. Except for 1 season with Jason Whitten in Dallas and another with Dalton Shultz carrying the load it's been pretty split between 2 TE's and neither really looking like a stud until This season with Johnson and He by far had the best season as a TE under a Moore offense.
Granted Whitten had come out of retirement for the 2019 season in Dallas so his numbers were pedestrian that last season in Dallas.

This would be a lot of money tied up in tight ends. I truly think they need to draft and develop someone but, that’s just my take.

I like what I've seen from Sam Roush from Stanford. Hope he lasts until the middle of the draft and the Saints grab him.
Edit: Draft analysts are starting to notice him . . .

Really like Dae'Quan Wright from Ole Miss late in the draft (or priority FA). He was underutilized in college, but has skills.

I think Goedert makes a ton of sense and wouldn’t cost a ton
Posted on 1/15/26 at 8:03 pm to MetArl15
Goedert seems like he disappears because he has a rushing QB with AJB, Smith and Saquon in the offense. Just not enough volume to go around consistently. He scored 13 tds this season, including the playoffs. He would be a beautiful addition to the team imo.
