Dog increased water intake

Got a golden doodle that’s 6 years old. He’s drinking more water it seems. I’m pretty sure he had a flea issue when we changed his monthly flea chewable. He got an allergy shot and a steroid yesterday. Water intake seems to have increased in the last several months.
Any opinions?

I've heard diabetes.
Wouldn't hurt to get some labwork done.

Do you drink varying amounts of water everyday?
Could it be possible that every animal and human drinks different amounts of water everyday?

Cushings, maybe. I noticed that with my blackmouth cur, and that’s what it turned out to be.

I could ChatGPT it for you, but you can do it and likely get the best advice than you get on here.

Had two diabetic dogs that both went through this in their early, early stages of diabetes. Both went blind within a short amount of time. Go get some blood work done soon.

What does this mean. How much more? Just drinking a little more water really isn’t a big deal.
If they are drinking almost uncontrollably (like 3 or 4+ times the amount of water then they used to) or it seems they can never quench their thirst then that’s a problem.
Is your dog eating normally? Is he urinating at a much more frequent rate?

We started to give our dog a joint supplement a few months ago. He started drinking water like crazy and going to the bathroom everywhere. We stopped giving it to him and he stopped. He’s fine. It was my wife’s bright idea to give him the supplement and mine to stop.
Whatever you’re giving him is the cause.

Gee.
The following is anecdotal obviously. My 6 Year old mutt started drinking water in irregular amounts. I'm my case, his food consumption fell off quite a bit.
Trip to vet. Took blood. It went quickly downhill. Before he died, within about 10 days of symptoms-5 days of vet visit, he just got worse. Without FULL diagnosis, it was quickly figured to be one of 2 things. Kidney failure, (obviously a vv bad diagnosis) or Addison's disease. He passed before final was determined.
I know this sounds bad, and it was, but I wish you and dog the best.

Could be nothing, could be diabetes. Get blood work done.

I had a golden retriever mix that did this. He would drink crazy amounts of water. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with diabetes. I had no idea that dogs could even get diabetes. I gave him insulin shots that helped for a while. Good luck.

Steroids make them thirsty.
ETA: Google that if you don't believe me but I'm surprised the vet didn't mention that. They remind us everytime.

Let’s hope you won’t have to make another “Welp, I had to say goodbye to my best friend today” thread.

First thing that came to mind. My parent’s dog was like this. Just constantly drinking water.
ETA: Reading through this thread and seeing Cushings reminded me he had that as well. Can’t remember if the abnormal water intake was due to one or the other, or both.
